Lake Forest Lobbies for Team Trophy, Grinnell in Second

Lake Forest won the Midwest Conference Women's Tennis Team Championship for the first time since 1999. In the first round Lake Forest defeated #1 Ripon 5 - 4, while Grinnell defeated Carroll 5 - 0 to move into the Championship game. In the championship match, Lake Forest captured the team title after a 5 - 4 win over Grinnell. In the consolation match, Ripon defeated Carroll 5 - 2.

Ripon, Grinnell take top seeds in conference tournament; Carroll and Lake Forest earn #2 seeds in respective divisions

Grinnell claimed key victories over divisional foes Knox and Monmouth this past weekend to secure the South Division title and secure one of the #1 seeds in the 2003 Midwest Conference Women's Tennis Team Championship. Ripon captured the other #1 seed from the North Division with some help from Carroll who knocked three-time defending champion Beloit out of the running. With one match remaining for the Red Hawks they claimed the top spot in the North thanks to their earlier win over second place Carroll which would give them the edge in the event of a tie at 3-1. Lake Forest rounds out the field as they qualified for their fourth-consecutive team tournament along with Grinnell.
