Craig Mours Named Head Women's Tennis Coach at Carroll University

11.24.2009 | Women's Tennis
Waukesha, Wis. - Craig Mours has been named head women's tennis coach at Carroll University, athletic director Kris Jacobsen announced today.

Mours succeeds Al Pruefer, who retired from the position last week after coaching the team for seven seasons.

Mours, a four-year letter winner and academic All-Midwest Conference performer in men's tennis at Carroll, also coaches the Pioneers men's tennis team, a position he has held since the 2008 season.

Mours graduated Cum Laude from Carroll in 2005 with a degree in Graphic Communications and Photography.

As a prep, Mours was a four-year letter winner at Wisconsin Rapids Assumption High School.

  Carroll's Pruefer Announces Retirement

11.20.2009 | Women's Tennis
Waukesha, Wis. - Carroll University's Al Pruefer is retiring from coaching, Pioneers athletic director Kris Jacobsen announced today.

Pruefer has coached in the Carroll athletic department for the last eight years, as an assistant men's basketball coach from 2002-2009 and as the head women's tennis coach from 2003-2009.

Over the past seven seasons, Pruefer's tennis teams have amassed a regular-season record of 61-28-1. Three times, he led the program to the four-team Midwest Conference Women's Tennis Team Championship Tournament - in 2003, 2004 and 2007 - and finished third in 2007 after knocking off Lake Forest College in the third-place match.

Pruefer's 2007 squad finished the regular season with a record of 11-2, the program's best since joining the Midwest Conference in 1992. During that season, one of Pruefer's standout performers, Samantha Bachmann, finished the regular season with a perfect 13-0 record, the best individual season on record in Carroll history.

Grinnell's Clover, Lipert Named ITA Scholar Athletes

8.17.2009 | Women's Tennis
Grinnell, Iowa – Grinnell College’s Katie Colver (Right) and Maya Lipert (Left) were named NCAA Division III Scholar-Athletes by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

In order to earn the honor, a player must be a varsity letter winner and have a grade point average of at least 3.50 for the academic year.

Colver, from Waukegan, Ill. and Lipert, from Ames, Iowa, wrapped up stellar careers last season that saw the Pioneers win their fifth consecutive Midwest Conference crown and post the program’s first-ever victory in NCAA Tournament play.

Both dominated MWC play during their careers. Colver became the first player ever to win 12 league crowns – four in singles play, four in doubles and four team titles – while Lipert won 11 MWC championships during the same span.
