Katie Rice - Forward - Lake Forest College
Freshman - Centennial, Colo./Eaglecrest
Rice started off her collegiate career with a scoring flurry,
tallying five goals in three Forester victories. Rice scored
twice in a 3-1 victory over Concordia to open the season
and then notched another goal during an 8-0 win over
Knox. Rice helped Lake Forest to a 2-0 start in confer-
ence play with her second multi-goal game, as she netted two more goals in a 6-0 triumph over Ripon.

Liz Carrier - Goalkeeper - Grinnell College
Junior - Pittsburgh, Penn./Sewickley
Carrier (left) turned a pair of clutch performances against two
of the nation’s top teams. Carrier made 10 saves, while
only allowing one goal in a 1-0 loss to #22 Macalester.
Pomona, another regionally ranked sqaud, was also held
to a single goal by Carrier, as the Pioneers forced a 1-1 tie.
Candice Gangl - Goalkeeeper - Lawrence Sophomore - Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville
Gangl (right) guided the Vikings to their first victory of the
season and a 1-0 start in MWC play, as she stopped all
four shot she faced in a 2-0 victory over Ripon. The
effort lowered her GAA to 2.33 and upped her save
percentage to .750.

Katherine Ni - Forward - Grinnell College -
Freshman - Mattawan, Mich/Hackett
Ni started her Midwest Conference career with five goals
in two games, helping the Pioneers off to a 2-0 start
in league play. In Saturday’s MWC opener against Monmouth, Ni scored eight minutes into the game and then
followed up with the game-winner seven minutes later. The next day, Ni tallied a hat-trick, scoring three times in a win over
Illinois College.

Sarah McLaughlin - Goalkeeper - Carroll College - Sophomore - Cary, Ill./Cary Grove
McLaughlin allowed one goal in two games last week,
helping the Pioneers to a 1-1 mark. McLaughlin stopped
all six shots she faced in a 1-0 victory over Carthage and followed that performance by making seven saves in a
1-0 loss to UW-Stevens Point. The victory over Carthage
was the Pioneers first this season.

Susan Bergen - Midfielder - Illinois College -
Junior - Litchfield, Ill./Litchfield
Bergen scored two goals, including the game-winner, to
lead the Lady Blues to their first victory of the season.
The win came in MWC action, as Illinois College downed Knox 3-0. Bergen scored just over three minutes
into the contest, before adding an insurance goal in 73rd
minute. The junior midfielder was credited with a game-high eight shots, including three on goal. |

Dani Myszewski - Defender - Carroll College -
Freshman - Wales, Wis./Kettle Moraine
Myszewski anchored a Lady Pioneers defensive unit that
posted a pair of shutouts last week. The Carroll defense
would only allow a combined five shots during a 5-0 win
against Edgewood and a 1-0 road victory over Elmhurst.
Carroll has tallied three shutouts in its three victories this
season and yielded just six goals in six games.

Amy Horneck - Forward - Monmouth College - Senior - Hermiston, Ore./Hermiston
Horneck had her 16-match scoring streak broken in a loss to Aurora on Wednesday, but the Midwest Conference’s leading scorer rebounded with a four-goal performance on Saturday. Horneck tallied all four of her netters in the first half of an 8-1 victory over MWC foe Ripon. The senior forward scored the game-winner 15 seconds into the contest before going on to add a trio of insurance goals. Horneck, who has 10 goals in 10 games this season, also holds the conference lead in points with 25. |

Kelly Brouse - Defender - Grinnell College - Freshman - Salt Lake City, Utah
Brouse moved into a starting role last week and helped guide the Pioneers to three straight shutout victories over MWC foes. The Pioneer defense only allowed two shots on goal during victories over Knox (16-0), Lawrence (2-0) and St. Norbert (5-0). Grinnell has only allowed one goal in six MWC contests this season.

Maggie Pucher - Defender - Carroll College - Senior - Skokie, Ill./Regina Dominican
Pucher led a dominant defensive effort for the Pioneers last week, as Carroll failed to allow a goal in three victories, running its consecutive shutout streak to five games. Pucher and company started their week with a 1-0 win over UW-La Crosse, before notching league wins over Illinois College (4-0) and Monmouth (2-0). Pucher held the top scorer from UW-La Crosse and Monmouth to three combined shots in those wins. All six Carroll victories this season have come by way of shutout.

Julia Bell - Forward - Carroll College - Senior - Hartford, Wis./Hartford Union
Bell became Carroll’s all-time career leader in points
when she scored the only goal of the game in Carroll’s 1-0 road win over Lawrence on Saturday. The goal gives Bell 96 points for her career, passing the mark of 95 set
by Krista Schneider (2001-04). Bell currently has 36 goals and 24 assists in her career. She ranks first in Carroll history in assists and is six goals away from becoming the school’s all-time leading scorer. The senior forward also netted a goal earlier in the week during a 4-0 win over Beloit.

Sammi Drews - Defender - Carroll College - Sophomore - Wauwatosa, Wis./East
Drews helped extend the Lady Pioneer’s shutout streak to seven games by blanking Midwest Conference foes Beloit (4-0) and Lawrence (1-0) last week. Drews led a defensive unit that allowed only one shot against the
Bucs and five shots against the Vikings. The Lady Pioneers have not surrendered goal since :52 into their match against UW-Stevens Point on Sept. 17, a span of 719:08.

Amy Horneck - Forward - Monmouth College - Senior - Hermiston, Ore./Hermiston
Horneck had a record setting week as the Fighting Scots ran their winning streak to four games with three conference victories. In Tuesday’s 5-0 triumph over Knox, Horneck netted two goals and an assist, making her Monmouth’s all-time career leader with 28 helpers. The senior forward played a part in all four goals on Saturday and Sunday, as Monmouth downed Beloit and Lake Forest by identical 2-0 scores. Horneck added to her career assist total by setting up both scores against the Bucs, before netting both goals against Lake Forest, including the game-winner on a kick in the 75th minute. She continues to lead the MWC with 16 goals this season. |

Abby Horneck - Sweeper - Monmouth College - Senior - Hermiston, Ore./Hermiston
Monmouth used a strong defensive effort led by Horneck to run its winning streak to four games, as the Scots failed to allow a goal during three MWC victories last week. Monmouth allowed a combined nine shots in shutout victories over Knox (5-0), Beloit (2-0) and previously unbeaten Lake Forest (2-0). The senior sweeper helped limit the Foresters career scoring leader, Melissa Stevenson, to a single shot on goal. Horneck, who ranks as one of top scorers in Monmouth history, shored up the Scots defense by switching positions this season, but has still managed to be an offensive threat after posting three shots on goal last week.

Julia Bell - Forward - Carroll College -
Senior - Hartford, Wis./Hartford Union
Bell reached another milestone in her career this week, as the senior sweeper recorded a first-half hat trick during the Lady Pioneers 7-0 win over Knox on Sunday. The first goal of the match gave Bell 42 for her career, passing Krista Schneider’s school-record mark of 41. Bell is now Carroll’s all-time leader in goals, assists and points in a career. Bell has guided the Lady Pioneers to an 8-1 MWC mark this season and will have the chance to pad her records at the Midwest Conference Tournament next weekend.

Kristin Mertel - Defender - Monmouth College -
Junior - Palatine, Ill./Hoffman Estates
Mertel continued to contribute on both sides of the ball as the Fighting Scots won a pair of MWC contests to clinch their first-ever MWC Tournament berth. Monmouth allowed only one goal in victories over St.
Norbert (5-0) and Lawrence (5-1), which gives the Scots a league-best six-game winning streak. Monmouth has won four of its contests during that stretch via shutout. Mertel also assisted on Lauren Lafond’s insurance goal in the 73rd minute against the Green Knights to put Monmouth up 2-0. |
