the
team's
win
over
Edgewood
on
Wednesday
and
then
tallied
16
saves
in
a
loss
to
unbeaten
Carroll
on
Sunday.

Grinnell,
the
Fighting
Scots
had
scored
only
once
against
the
Pioneers.
Horneck
doubled
that
output
in

minutes
on
Saturday.

The
Lady

Sunday.
Beyer
and
the

of
the
defense
allowed
their
opponents
to
attempt

shots
combined.
The
unit
has
surrendered

goals
this
season
in
eight

battle
with

Buzicky
jumped
on
a
rebound
in
the
ninth
minute
and
gave
her
team

a
revitalized
Scots’
defense
that

matches

As
the

defense

the
goalie,
Myers
proved
to
be
the
‘keeper’s
best
friend,
helping
limit
Robert
Morris
to
seven
shots
and
Ripon
to
just
two.
Sunday
against
Carroll,
Myers’
efforts
helped
Monmouth
snap
the
Lady
Pioneers’
21-match
regular
season
winning
streak.
Myers
played
every
minute
of
each
game
as
the
Scots
broke
the
previous
school
record
with
three
consecutive
shutouts.

over
Monmouth.
The
next
day,
Gross
opened
the
Green
Knight’s
match
at
Illinois
College
with
an
unassisted
goal
and
helped
her
team
post
a
3-1
win.
For
the
season,
Gross
has
20
goals
and
eight
assists
for
a
total
of
48
points.

Freshman
stopper
Mertel,
a
freshman
stopper
from
Hoffman
Estates,
Ill.(HS),
made
her
presence
felt
on
both
offense
and
defense
in
Monmouth’s
final
two
games
of
the
season.
Despite
playing
a
defensive
position,
Mertel
notched
a
goal
and
an
assist
against
St.
Norbert,
and
she
also
had
the
Scots’
only
assist
in
a
1-1
tie
against
Lawrence.
