2006 Performers of the Week
   
Week 1: September 6, 2006
Carey Cappel - Illinois College
Senior - Alton, Ill./Alton

Cappel, the three-time defending MWC women’s golf champion, started off her final collegiate season by winning medalist honors at the Illinois College Invitational. Cappel finished the 36-hole total event with a total of 148, helping the Lady Blues to a fourth-place finish in the 10-team field.
Playing in a field of 63 golfers, Cappel opened with a 77 on Saturday and shot a tourney-best and school-record round of 71 (-1) on
Sunday to capture first-place by nine strokes.
 
Week 2: September 12, 2006
Janelle Kuhn - Illinois College
Sophomore - Okawville, Ill./Okawville

Kuhn carded an 18-hole total of 83 on Sunday to finish in a tie for seventh place at the Monmouth Invitational. Kuhn finished one shot behind teammate Carey Cappel, helping the Lady Blues to a third-place team finish in the 19-team tournament field. The sophomore also tied for 13th at Saturday’s Knox Invitational, posting an 18-hole score of 90. The Lady Blues finished second at the Knox tourney, falling one shot behind a trio of tied teams. Kuhn’s round of 83 ranks sixth in the conference this season.
 
Week 3: September 19, 2006
Leah Fiestadt - Carroll College
Junior - Kaukauna, Wis./Kaukauna

Fiestadt carded an 18-hole total of 87 to earn medalist honors at Saturday’s Carroll Invitational. Fiestadt’s effort helped lead the Lady Pioneers to a first-place team finish at the four-team meet. The Lady Pioneers won the event with a team score of 382, edging fellow MWC schools Ripon and St. Norbert. Fiestadt owns the third-best 18-hole round in the conference this season after she carded an 82 at the Ripon Invite on Sept. 2.
 
Week 4: September 26, 2006
Meredith Robinson - Illinois College
Sophomore - Barrington, Ill./Barrington

Robinson carded two of the best 18-hole scores in the conference this season in back-to-back rounds at the UW-Whitewater Invitational. Robinson opened the 36-hole event by shooting an 82 and added one stroke on day two, finishing with an 83. Robinson’s tally was good for 13th place individually in a field of 102 golfers and helped the Lady Blues finish fourth among the 17 squads that competed.
 
Week 5: October 3, 2006
Carey Cappel - Illinois College
Senior - Alton, Ill./Alton

Cappel captured individual medalist honors at the Millikin Red Tail Run Fall Classic in her final tune-up before attempting to win her fourth consecutive MWC title. Cappel led the field, which featured 100 golfers, after shooting an 18-hole score of 76 on day one and followed that performance by firing a 72, one stroke from tying her best round of the season. The senior’s 36-hole total of 148 helped the Lady Blues finish third in the 17-team field.
