2004 Conference Performers of the Week
Week #1: September 6


Carey Cappel, Illinois C.

Cappel, a sophomore from Alton, Ill. (Alton) shot a six-over par 78 Saturday at the Brighton Dale Links Golf Course in Kansasville, Wis., and finished second in a field of more than 70 golfers at the Carthage Women’s Golf Opener. Her total helped the Illinois C. women finish third in the 12-team field. Last Wednesday, Cappel won a scorecard playoff for medalist honors at the Illinois C. Invitational in Jacksonville. She shot a 79 and led her team to a second-place finish where 49 golfers participated.


Week #2: September 13

Stephanie Hoegh, Illinois C.

Hoegh, a junior from Pasco, Wash. (Pasco), shot a five-over par 81 and finished fifth out of 129 golfers at the Monmouth Fighting Scots Invitational. Hoegh’s round was part of a school-record 333 turned in by Illinois C., which was good enough to edge Illinois Wesleyan by one stroke and win the tournament championship.


Week #3: September 20


Carey Cappel, Illinois C.

Cappel, a sophomore from Alton, Ill., took second-place at the Illinois Wesleyan University Fall Classic after shooting a four-over par 148 after firing two rounds of 74 this past weekend. Her score was good enough for second place in a field that included 24 teams and over 130 golfers. Cappel helped the Lady Blues to an eighth-place finish at the tournament.

 

 


Week #4: September 27


Kacie Parge, Monmouth

Parge, a sophomore from Aurora, Ill. (West Aurora), shot the best round of her collegiate career on the second day of the UW-Whitewater Invitational, vaulting her to second place among MWC competitors. Within the six conference teams present, only defending MWC champion Carey Cappel of Illinois College posted a lower two-day total than Parge’s 91-86—177, which was good for 25th place overall in the field of 101 golfers.
