1: Nov. 29 |
|
Felice Porrata, Lawrence
Porrata, a senior forward from Glenview,
Ill. (New Trier), was a key player in Lawrence winning the
UW-Stevens Point Tip-Off Classic and upsetting the No. 4 Pointers
in the process. The senior forward scored 18 points, grabbed
three rebounds, recorded nine steals, and had one assist in
Lawrence’s win over Dominican (Ill.) in the Nov. 19 semifinal.
Facing the fourth-ranked Pointers, Porrata had 20 points,
five rebounds, two steals, and two assists the following day.
She scored the final five points of the game for Lawrence
to seal the victory. Porrata scored 18 points, grabbed two
rebounds, had four assists, and added five steals in Lawrence’s
win over Marian. For the opening three games, Porrata averaged
18.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 5.3 steals per game. Porrata
was named the Tip-Off Classic’s MVP and was chosen for D3hoops.com
national team of the week.

2: Dec. 6 |

Kristy Freeman, Lake Forest
Freeman, a senior from Palatine,
Ill. (Palatine HS), was perfect from the field in a pair of
Forester victories last week, including the team’s MWC opener.
Freeman scored a career high 26 points in the Foresters’ win
at the Univ. of Chicago on Tuesday. She made all nine of her
field goal attempts, including a school record tying seven
from three-point range. In the team’s triumph at Monmouth
on Saturday, Freeman tied for game high honors with 17 points
on five three-pointers and another field goal without a miss.
She has now connected on 13 consecutive three-point field
goal attempts, tying the NCAA Division III record.

3: Dec. 13 |
|
Janine Emmer, Ripon
Emmer, a senior from Slinger, Wis.,
logged a double-double on Wednesday to help her Red Hawks
down host Beloit College and remain undefeated on the season.
The reigning MWC Player of the Year, Emmer had 21 points and
pulled down a career-high 17 rebounds.

4: Jan. 10 |
|
Shannon Robak, St. Norbert
Robak, a junior guard from Milwaukee,
Wis. (Pius XI), led St. Norbert to a 2-0 week with a 71-66
road win over Ripon and a 74-54 win over Carroll. Robak had
13 points, including three 3-pointers, against Ripon. She
then had 16 points and was a perfect 3-for-3 from beyond the
arc in the triumph over Carroll. St. Norbert is now 5-5 overall
and 3-0 in the MWC.

Felice Porrata, Lawrence
Porrata, a senior from Glenview,
Ill. (New Trier), became only the third player in Lawrence
women’s basketball history to top 1,000 points when she did
so this past week during three Viking wins.The senior forward
now has 1,013 points for her career. Porrata scored a season-high
23 points and tied her season-high of 13 rebounds in Lawrence’s
win over St. Norbert, snapping an 11-game losing streak to
the Green Knights. Porrata eclipsed 1,000 points when scored
15 points and again grabbed 13 rebounds in Lawrence’s 79-56
win over previous MWC unbeaten Illinois C. She then finished
the week by scoring four points and grabbing four rebounds
while playing only 11 minutes in a win over Knox. For the
week, Porrata averaged 14 points and 10 rebounds.

6: Jan. 24 |
|
Karalyn Dehn, Ripon
Dehn, a junior from Beaver Dam, Wis. (Beaver Dam), averaged 20 points and 5.5 rebounds as she helped Ripon pick up victories on the road over Lake Forest and Knox. She hit 11 of 14 shots from the field against Lake Forest to tally 28 points and pull down seven rebounds in 28 minutes of action. She also had one assist and one steal. Dehn followed that up the next night at Knox by hitting four of seven shots from the field for 12 points. She also had four rebounds with one assist, one block and one steal in 26 minutes of action.

Devon Liebl, Lake Forest
Liebl, a junior guard from Milwaukee, Wis. (Milwaukee Pius XI H.S.), led Lake Forest to a pair of important MWC road victories over the weekend. Liebl scored a game-high 17 points, pulled down five rebounds, dished out four assists, and added five steals in the Foresters’ win at Beloit on Friday. She also had the game-clinching steal and basket in the final 20 seconds of the game. In the team’s triumph at Ripon on Saturday, she scored a career-high 27 points on 10-of-13 shooting from the field and added six rebounds, five assists, and five more steals. Liebl averaged 22.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 5.0 steals per game on the week. She shot 17-of-25 from the field, 5-of-10 from three-point range, and 5-of-7 from the foul line. |

Hannah Wolf, Grinnell
Wolf, a freshman point guard from Omaha, Neb., tallied 72 points, eight assists, seven rebounds, and 12 steals as Grinnell went 2-1 last week in MWC play. In the Pioneers’ win over Monmouth on Tuesday, she poured in a game-high 25 points on 9 of 17 shooting which inlcuded seven three-pointers. She also added seven steals and four assists. In Grinnell’s loss to Beloit on Thursday, she scored a game-high 24 points and nailed six three-pointers. In the Pioneers’ upset of Ripon on Friday, Wolf scored a game-high 23 points on 8 of 16 shooting. She hit five three-pointers, made four steals and handed out three assists. |

Lisa Imel, Illinois C.
Imel, a 6-1 freshman forward from Mt. Carroll, Ill. (Mt. Carroll H.S.), had the best game in the Midwest Conference so far this season when she scored 33 points Saturday in the Lady Blues’ overtime victory at Grinnell. She hit 12 of her 16 field goal attempts (including 3-of-6 from 3-point range), made all six of her free throws, and collected a season-high 16 rebounds. The victory kept Illinois College in the race for the fourth and final playoff spot in the league standings. Earlier in the week, Imel led all scorers with 23 points in IC’s victory over Monmouth. The freshman sank 13 of her 16 free throws and also collected nine rebounds.

Kristy Freeman, Lake Forest
Freeman, a senior guard from Palatine, Ill, (Palatine HS), helped lead Lake Forest to a pair of MWC victories last week. The Foresters clinched a spot in the conference tournament with a victory over Illinois College on Wednesday and Freeman led all players with 18 points and added four assists. She shot 5-for-8 from beyond the arc in the game and broke a school record with her 61st three-pointer of the season. She knocked down three more three-pointers on Saturday and scored 14 points in a triumph at Grinnell. For the week Freeman averaged 16 points, four rebounds, and three assists per game. She shot 8-for-15 from long range and is ranked among the top five in the nation in three-point field goal percentage at 47.4%. |
