2006 Performers of the Week
 
     
Week 1: September 6, 2006

Joanna Mamayek - Middle Hitter - St. Norbert
Sophomore - Colgate, Wis./Milwaukee Divine Savior

Mamayek has helped guide the Green Knights to a 6-0 start on the season, including a 4-0 mark at last weekend’s UW-Stevens Point Invitational. Mamayek recorded 44 kills (.427), 11 blocks, 11 digs and nine service aces en route to earning Tournament MVP honors at Stevens Point. The sophomore middle hitter has posted double-digit kills in four of six matches this season.

 
Week 2: September 12, 2006

Crystal Myers - Libero - Monmouth College
Sophomore - Byron, Ill./Byron

Myers earned All-Tournament Team accolades at last weekend’s UW-Platteville Tournament after helping the Scots to a 3-1 record. The sophomore libero posted 79 digs, six aces and a kill as Monmouth downed Augustana (3-0), Simpson (3-0) and Edgewood (3-1). The Scots lone loss came in four games to the tourney host, who entered the weekend ranked 21st in the country.

 
Week 3: September 19, 2006

Kendra James - Middle Hitter - Monmouth College
Junior - Fulton, Ill./Fulton

James had an amazing offensive week for Monmouth, as the Fighting Scots won three of their four matches, including a pair of victories at the Wheaton (IL) Tournament. For the week, James recorded 65 kills and had just 10 errors in 102 attempts. She pounded 22 kills in 29 attempts against Tri-State and added 10 kills on 13 attempts vs. Knox. The junior middle hitter registered a .539 hitting percentage for the week and also notched three solo blocks and 10 assists in 18 games.

 
Week 4: September 26, 2006

Ashli Ligocki - Outside Hitter - Carroll College
Junior - Burlington, Wis./Burlington

Ligocki recorded 38 kills in 11 games over the weekend to lead the Lady Pioneers to a 3-0 start in conference play at the MWC Crossover hosted by Grinnell. The junior outside hitter notched 11 kills in a three-game victory over Knox, before combining for 27 kills in wins over 2005 MWC Tournament qualifiers Lake Forest (3-2) and Monmouth (3-0). Ligocki also added 27 digs, four blocks and four assists in the three victories. The Lady Pioneers did not win a conference match a year ago.

 
Week 5: October 3, 2006

Katelynn Rynders - Middle Hitter - Beloit College
Senior - West Dundee, Ill./Dundee Crown

Rynders led the Bucs to a pair of wins last week, including a four-game victory over conference foe Ripon. The senior middle hitter recorded 46 kills, a .343 kill percentage, nine digs, four service aces and 11 blocks in 12 games. Rynders, entered the 2006 season as Beloit’s all-time leader in kills and currently has 1,300 for her career.

 
Week 6: October 10, 2006

Angela Siebers - Middle Hitter - Illinois College
Junior - Quincy, Ill./Notre Dame

Siebers was named to the I-72 Classic All-Tournament Team after leading the Lady Blues to a 3-1 record. Over the course of 14 games, the junior middle hitter recorded 66 kills, 19 assists, 15 blocks, nine service aces and a pair of assists. Siebers best match came in a 3-1 victory over Blackburn when she registered 21 kills, with just two errors, in 38 attempts.

 
Week 7: October 17, 2006

Nicole Baich - Middle Blocker - Lake Forest College
Junior - Westchester, Ill./Nazareth Academy

Baich helped lead Lake Forest to three victories in as many matches last week, including a pair of league wins at the second MWC Crossover in Beloit. The junior middle blocker recorded 14 kills, two aces and three blocks in a five-game non-conference victory over the University of Chicago on Tuesday. She followed that performance by combining to tally 43 kills and six blocks in seven total games, as the Foresters downed Lawrence (3-0) and two-time defending MWC champion St. Norbert (3-1) on Saturday.

 
Week 8: October 24, 2006

Alli Thomson - Outside Hitter - Beloit College
Junior - Appleton, Wis./West

Thomson did a little bit of everything last week in leading the Bucs to a 2-0 record and the school’s first MWC Championship since 1995. In seven games last week, the junior outside hitter recorded 26 kills, nine digs and four blocks as Beloit downed divisional foes Carroll (3-1) and Lawrence (3-0). Beloit finished league play with an 8-1 mark this season, clinching the top seed and hosting duties for the 2006 MWC Tournament with the second league title in school history.

 
Week 9: October 31, 2006

Crystal McClure - Outside Hitter - St. Norbert College
Senior - Franklin, Wis.


McClure led St. Norbert to a 3-2 record last week, including a three-game win over MWC foe Ripon to secure a spot in this weekend’s MWC Tournament at Beloit. In 20 games, the 2005 MWC Player of the Year recorded a .437 hitting percentage with 66 kills, 18 blocks, 14 digs and 12 assists. She also hit .425 in the Green Knights’ 2-2 showing at the Benedictine Tournament.
