Week #1: September 8

 

Abbey Sutherland
St. Norbert


Sutherland, a junior setter from West Bend, Wis. (West Bend HS), led the Green Knights to a 5-4 start by hitting .343. Sutherland registered seven service aces, 97 digs, three blocks, and 336 assists.

Melissa Jones
Monmouth

Jones, a senior middle hitter from Port Byron, Ill. (East Moline HS), earned all-tournament honors in Monmouth’s first two events of the season. With a team-high 81 kills in the first six matches, Jones stands at 3.86 kills per game. The senior also has 11 aces, 71 digs, and 17 blocks.

Week #2: September 15

Abbey Sutherland
St. Norbert

Sutherland, a junior setter from West Bend, Wis., (West Bend HS) claimed POW honors for the second straight week after leading her team to a 4-0 record.

Jenny Andersen
Lake Forest

Anderson, a junior outside hitter from Sebastopol, Calif., (El Molino HS) recorded 89 kills in six matches last week and added eight aces and 52 digs. Anderson tallied a career-high 25 kills in a five-game victory at Wheaton and made the All-Tournament Team at the Illinois Wesleyan Classic.

Week #3: September 22


Liz Pollock
Lawrence

Pollock, a senior middle hitter from Urbana, Ill., (University HS) tied her own school record with 28 kills in a three-game win over Edgewood and added 14 more in a 3-0 win at Concorida (WI). For the week, Pollock posted a blistering .607 kill percentage with only five errors and added ten digs, two service aces and six blocks.

Emily Beckwith
Illinois C.

Beckwith, a junior middle hitter from Jacksonville, Ill., (Jacksonville HS) tallied 49 kills in three matches and logged a .423 hitting percentage for the week including a 14-kill, one-error performance over Blackburn.

Week #4: September 29

Sam Sippel
St. Norbert

Sippel, a sophomore outside hitter from Brandon, Wis., (Laconia HS) hit .405 (58-9-121) with four digs and 14 blocks as the Green Knights went a perfect 5-0 at the MWC Crossover Tournament. In her final matchup of the tournament against Illinois C., Sippel stepped up with 13 kills and no errors in 20 attempts (.650 hitting).

Angela Lagerman
Lake Forest

Harris, a senior setter from Easton, Ill., delivered 237 set assists in six matches last week including 197 during a 4-1 run at the MWC Crossover Tournament. Harris’ 55 assists in a win over Ripon was a new school record. Harris also added 22 kills, 11 aces, 26 digs and three blocks.

Week #5: October 6


Abbey Sutherland
St. Norbert

Sutherland, a junior setter from West Bend, Wis., (West HS) and a former POW winner this season, collected 134 assists and 62 digs over the course of four matches as the Green Knights finished 2-2 on the week. Sutherland also contributed 12 kills and only had four errors in 46 attempts at the net while being named to the all-tournament team.

Jenna Harper
Lake Forest

Harper, a junior from St. Louis, Mo., (Clayton HS) was named to the all-tournament team at the Forester Invite after tallying 28 kills with just seven errors in 65 attempts (.323 hitting). Harper also added five aces and a team-high eight blocks.

Week #6: October 13

Liz Pollock
Lawrence

Pollock, a senior middle hitter from Urbana, Ill., (University HS) hammered 61 kills and hit .473 (61-9-110) during a stretch of four matches at the UW-Oshkosh Classic. Pollock’s totals included 25 digs, three service aces and seven blocks. This is Pollock’s second POW selection of the season.

Emily Beckwith
Illinois C.

Beckwith, a junior middle hitter from Jacksonville, Ill., (Jacksonville HS) blasted a season-high 25 kills and hit .523 (25-2-44) in a 3-2 win over division-rival Lake Forest. Beckwith also added three solo blocks and six block assists against Lake Forest and later in the week logged a .400 hitting percentage with seven block assists against Lincoln Christian.

Week #7: October 20

 

Janine Emmer
Ripon

Emmer, a sophomore outside hitter from Slinger, Wis., tallied 52 kills, 56 digs and five blocks as the Red Hawks went 2-2 at the UW-Oshkosh Tournament. For her efforts Emmer was also named to the all-tournament team.

Amy Bender
Monmouth

Bender, a junior outside hitter from Crystal Lake, Ill., had an all-around solid match in a loss to Grinnell. Bender hit .273 with 14 kills, 21 digs and three aces for the Fighting Scots.

Week #8: November 3

 

Jess Radocay
St. Norbert

Radocay, a first-year defensive specialist from Watertown, Wis., was named to the all-tournament team after registering 100 digs (five per game) at the libero position at the North Central Tournament where the Green Knights went 3-1.

Stephanie Metzger
Lake Forest

Metzger, a junior outside hitter from Chicago, Ill, (Lane Tech HS) recorded 54 kills, 58 digs, seven aces and four blocks in her team’s 3-1 stint last week. Metzger notched a school-record 28 digs in a four-game win over U. of Chicago.

Week #9: October 29

 

Georgia Seals
Lawrence

Seals, a first-year setter from Carpentersville, Ill., (Dundee Crown HS) registered 40 assists, seven digs, two kills and two blocks in a win over Carroll and tallied 54 assists, 14 digs and nine kills in a 3-2 win over Ripon that pulled Lawrence into second place in the North Division.

Megan Harris
Monmouth

Harris, a senior setter from Easton, Ill., (Illini Central HS) lead Monmouth to a 2-1 week by delivering 108 assists, 10 kills, 8 aces, 28 digs and three blocks. Harris is quickly approaching her own single-season assist mark and is only nine away from 3,000 for her career.
