Week #1: September 10

Katie
Carrier
St. Norbert
A junior outside hitter from West Bend, Wis., (East HS), Carrier led
the Knights to a 6-4 start, including strong showings in the UW-Superior
and St. Mary's tournaments. Carrier is hitting .310 so far this season,
has a team-high 107 digs to go with 12 blocks and 3 assists.

Illinois College
Heberlein is a 5-11 junior middle hitter from Liberty, Ill. (Liberty
H.S.) registered 81 kills and 122 digs through her first nine matches..
She is averaging 2.7 kills per game and 4.0 digs per game. Heberlein
was named to the all-tournament teams at the Illinois College Classic
(which IC won) and the Illinois Wesleyan Classic, where IC finished
2-2. Her best efforts came against Coe and Webster with 13 kills in
each match. She also tallied 30 digs against Coe and 26 against Webster.

Week #2: September 17

Sundberg
Beloit College
The 5-9 middle hitter is a senior from Suring, Wis. Sundberg racked
up a .429 hitting percentage at the Beloit Invitational, including an
impressive .625 kill mark against Ripon. In her team's win over Ripon,
Sundberg was flawless and registered 10 kills with no attack errors.
She posted 11 kills (with 2 errors) and four blocks against Bethany
College and added 4 kills against Marian. "Michelle's strong net play
and consistent offense provided the leadership we needed over the weekend,"
said Beloit Head Coach Vanessa MacCallum. "Her stats against Ripon speak
for themselves. She played smart and she stepped it up."

Frantz
Lake Forest College
A 5-6 senior setter from Lake Geneva, WI/Badger High School, Frantz
averaged 11.73 assists per game for the week...129 total assists in
11 games played...led the team with nine aces, including five versus
Trinity International...her first ace against Trinity International
moved her into the top stop for career aces in LF's school record book...she
now is the school's career leader for assists and aces...also had 28
digs, two blocks, and two kills for the week.

Week #3: September 24

St. Norbert
A junior outside hitter from West Bend, Wis., (East HS), Carrier led
the Green Knights in hitting with a .280 percentage. She registered
41 kills in 100 attempts with 13 kills as the SNC women defeated Lakeland
3-0 and fell to Benedictine 3-1. Carrier's totals included one block
and a team-high 28 digs.

Monmouth
A junior middle hitter from La Harpe, Ill., (La Harpe HS), Jones led
the Fighting Scots in three of the five major categories at the tough
Wheaton College Tournament over the weekend. Jones blasted 47 kills,
had 13 blocks (six solo) and served five aces as the Scots faced strong
opponents from the CCIW and the IIAC. Her highs were 15 kills against
Coe and North Park, three aces against Wisconsin Lutheran and three
solo blocks against North Park.

Week #4: October 1

Sorce
Carroll
Sorce is a senior outside hitter from Caledonia, Wis., and a graduate
of Milwaukee Technical High School. For the week, Sorce hit .419 and
tallied 16 kills (with 3 errors) in 31 attempts as the Pioneers defeated
Maranatha Baptist Bible College, 3-1. In addition to averaging 4 kills
per game, Sorce posted 10 digs, 3 service aces, 1 solo block and 2 block
assists.

Lagerman
Lake Forest
A junior middle blocker, Lagerman logged 50 kills and just ten errors
in 102 attempts in a match against U. of Chicago and at the UW-Whitewater
Invitational last week. Lagerman finished with a .392 hitting percentage,
26 blocks, (22 assists, four solos) for the Foresters who defeated Chicago
3-1 and went 2-2 at the Whitewater tourney.

Week #5: October 8

Lawrence
Burris, a first-year player from Gurnee, Ill. (Warren Township High
School), led the Vikings to victories over Viterbo, Monmouth and Clarke
at the Clarke College Tournament. Burris blasted a team-high 19 kills
against Viterbo and then posted a team-best 15 digs in a tournament
loss to Luther. In the win over Clarke, the Lawrence freshman led the
way with 25 digs and added 7 kills. She closed out her team's big weekend
with 10 kills and 15 digs in a 3-0 win over Monmouth.

Reinboldt
Lake Forest
A junior middle blocker from McHenry, Ill. (Marian Central Catholic
H.S.), appeared in four matches and recorded 47 kills (4.70 kills/game)
to lead the Foresters. Reinboldt logged a .439 hitting percentage along
wth five aces, 25 digs, and six blocks for the week. She was named to
the six-member Forester Invitational All-Tournament team after leading
Lake Forest to three-straight three-game wins and the Forester Invite
championship. Lake Forest lost in three games to Elmhurst (#16 in the
nation) earlier in the week, a match in which Reinboldt had 17 kills
and hit .375.

Week #6: October 15

St. Norbert
Carrier blasted 70 kills in 183 attempts and finished with a fine .268
hitting mark in 4 matches at the Benedictine University Tournament (Lisle
IL). The junior outside hitter from West Bend, Wis., also led the Green
Knights with 59 digs. She was at her best against Lakeland when she
slammed 24 kills in 55 attempts and hit .400 to rally her team to a
3-2 win after being down 0-2.

Megan Harris
Monmouth
Despite an 0-2 week with losses to Grinnell and Eureka junior hitter
Jaime Jones (LaHarpe, IL/HS) and
sophomore
setter Megan Harris (Easton, IL/Illini Central) combined to shatter
a pair of MC records. "I've never seen two players so insync with each
other as Jaime and Megan against Eureka," says coach Kari Shimmin. Shiimin
should know of what she speaks, having played on the 1994 team whose
records where broken. Versus Eureka, Jones bested the old kill mark
for a five-game match with 35 kills, thanks in part to Harris' record
assist mark of 54. Jones record bettered the old standard by 9 kills
while Harris shattered the assist mark by 17. Numbers for the week:
Jones 45 kills (record 35 vs. Eureka), percentage .544, blocks 14, digs
20 Harris assists 87 (record 54 vs Eureka), percentage .419

Week #7: October 22

Hansen
Lawrence
The junior hitter from Ripon, Wis., (Ripon HS), led the Vikings to
wins over Beloit and Wisconsin Lutheran. She hit .432 with 20 kills,
3 blocks and 9 digs in LU's 5-game win over Beloit, and she pounded
out a .462 kill percentage in a 3-game sweep of Wis. Lutheran. In the
latter match, Hansen had 7 kills, 3 digs and 2 blocks.

Illinois C.
Heberlein is a junior outside hitter from Liberty Ill., (Liberty
H.S.). Against Millikin, Heberlein finished with 27 kills and 32 digs
and posted 10 kills, 27 digs and 15 service points in the win at Grinnell.
Heberlein averaged 4.6 kills per game and 7.3 digs per game over the
two matches. Head Coach Candy West said the victories were the biggest
of the season for the Lady Blues. Millikin came in at 15-6. West said
Heberlein broke out of a mid-season slump and gave the team a big lift
with consistent play. The IC junior was especially effective in the
rally-scoring format used in the finale against Grinnell.

Week #8: October 29

St. Norbert
The junior outside hitter put up an impressive .544 hitting percentage
in the Green Knights' matches against Lawrence and Beloit. In the win
over Lawrence, Carrier posted a school-record 23 kills -- the best-ever
at SNC for a 3-game match. She finished the week with 36 kills in 57
attempts (with just 5 errors). For those who don't already know, Carrier
is from West Bend, Wis., and is a graduate of East High School.

Lake Forest
A junior middle blocker from Menomonee Falls,Wis. (Menomonee Falls
H.S.), Lagerman led Lake Forest to three wins over the weekend, including
two MWC South Division victories. Lake Forest won all three matches
in three games while Lagerman played in all nine games. Lagerman recorded
a team-high 33 kills (3.67 kills/game) with just four errors and also
led the team with a .468 hitting percentage. Lagerman added six total
blocks (one solo and five assists) and three digs while recording 19
kills with just two errors in LF's MWC South Division title-clinching
win over IC.
