Week #1: November 10


David Danenhower
Lawrence

Danenhower, a first-year swimmer from Champaign, Ill. (Urbana HS), broke two school records in his first collegiate dual meet at Lake Forest. Dananhower swam to a Lawrence record in winning the 200-meter IM with a time of 2:23.91 in addition to winning the 100-meter breaststroke in 1:13.42. The first-year also anchored the winning 400-meter freestyle relay team, which set a school record of 3:48.63.


Erin Motzer
Lake Forest

Motzer, a senior from Libertyville, Ill. (Libertyville HS), helped Lake Forest win a triangular over Ripon College and Benedictine University by winning the 800-meter freestyle with a time of 10:09.35 as well as posting a 1:10.88 win in the 100-meter butterfly. The senior also played a lead role in the Foresters' victory over Lawrence by again winning the 800-meter freestyle with a time of 10:05.72 and the 100-meter butterfly with a time of 1:10.79. Motzer swam a leg on the winning 400-meter medley relay on Saturday as well.

Week #2: November 17


Brett McMillian
Grinnell

McMillan, a sophomore swimmer from Austin, Tex., led Grinnell to a dual win over Illinois Wesleyan by winning two events and participating on a winning relay team. The sophomore won the 50 freestyle, the 100 butterfly, and was on the winning 200 freestyle relay team.


Sarah Stayer
Grinnell

Stayer, a first-year swimmer from Houston, Tex., helped Grinnell to a dual meet victory over Illinois Wesleyan. The first-year won the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. Stayer broke the school record on the 3-meter board and also qualified provisionally for the NCAA Championships.

Week #3: December 1


Tom Carroll
Lawrence

Carroll, a senior swimmer from Elmhurst, Ill., won a pair of events in a dual meet with UW-Oshkosh. The senior, last year's conference champion in the 1650-yard freestyle, won the 1000 freestyle in 10:25.32 and the 500 freestyle in 5:01.80.


Jodie Primus
Lawrence

Primus, a junior swimmer from Madison, Wis. (LaFollette HS), won two events in a dual meet with UW-Oshkosh. The junior swam to victory in the 400-yard IM in 5:00.24 and won the 200 breaststroke in 2:39.03.

Week #4: December 8


Braden Pence
Grinnell

Pence, a sophomore swimmer from Seattle, Wash., keyed Grinnell to a fourth-place finish at the Mutual of Omaha Invitational. Swimming largely against NCAA Div.II competition, Pence took fourth in the 50-yard freestyle in 21.93 seconds and was fourth in the 100 breaststroke in 1:01.71. The sophomore also finished 11th in the 200 breaststroke in 2:19.80, as well as swam on three relays (the 200 medley, 400 medley, and 200 freestyle) that all placed fourth. Pence tallied 50 team points on the weekend.


Valerie Thiel
St. Norbert

Thiel, a junior swimmer from Kiel, Wis. (Kiel HS), won two events and broke a meet record at the Gene Davis Invitational. The junior won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:10.92 and also won the 200-yard breaststroke in a meet record-breaking time of 2:31.14. Thiel also placed fifth in the 200 IM while leading St. Norbert to a fourth-place finish.

Week #5 : January 12


Tom Carroll
Lawrence

Carroll, a senior swimmer from Elmhurst, Ill., led Lawrence University to a split at the Carthage College Triangular last Saturday. Paced by Carroll's three wins, the Vikings beat North Central 184-47 and lost to Carthage 131-127. Carroll won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:48:62 and also captured the 500 freestyle in 4:53:41, and the 1,000 freestyle in 10:02:46.


Kristi Behr
Carroll College

Behr, a freshman swimmer from Wauwautosa, Wis., earned two first-place finishes and set a school record in Carroll College's dual meet loss to UW-Whitewater. Behr won the 100-yard butterfly in 1:02:10 and set a Carroll record in the event. She also finished first in the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 11:34:81. Behr set the school record in the 200 butterfly earlier this season.

Week #6: January 19


Adam Kolb
Lawrence

Kolb, a first-year competitor from St. Paul, Minn., led Lawrence to a sweep of a double dual by winning two events. Kolb won the 1,000-freestyle in 10:41.68 and won 100 freestyle in 50.70 seconds. Lawrence beat Carroll 192-25 and downed UW-Whitewater 151-80.


Rachel Sellon
Grinnell

Sellon, a junior from Lawrence, Kan., won all four of her individual events at the Grinnell Invitational. Sellon won the 500-yard freestyle, 1,650 freestyle, 200 butterfly, and the 400 individual medley. She was also a member of the winning 400 medley relay team and 400 freestyle relay team that both set new meet records. Her victories helped he Pioneer women dominate the 11-team invitational.

Week #7: January 26


Eric Blevins
Grinnell

Blevins, a junior from Abigndon, Va., won both diving events and qualified provisionally for the NCAA Championships in Grinnell’s 136-86 win over Loras College. Diving the 1-meter event twice, Blevins had scores of 174.3 and 265.55 for a combined score of 439.85.

Val Thiel
St. Norbert

Thiel, a junior from Kiel, Wis. (Kiel HS), placed in the top six in two events at the UW-Stevens Point Invitational. The junior grabbed fifth in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:34.26 and was sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:12.03. Led by Thiel’s efforts, St. Norbert finished eighth in the 11-team meet that featured several Division II schools.

Week #8: February 2


Tom Carroll
Lawrence

Carroll, a senior from Elmhurst, Ill. (York HS), won three events to lead Lawrence to a second-place finish at the Wisconsin Private College Championships. Carroll won the 1650-freestyle in 17:02.83, the 200-freestyle in 1:49.20, and the 500-freestyle in 4:51.27.


Rachel Sellon
Grinnell

Sellon, a junior from Lawrence, Kan., won the 200-yard butterfly, the 200 breaststroke, and was a member of the winning 200 medley relay at Grinnell's dual meet against Augustana. The junior also posted a national "B" cut in the 200-yard butterfly.

Week #9: February 9


Eric Boarini
Lake Forest

Boarini, a senior from Wadsworth, Ill. (Carmel HS), helped Lake Forest defeat the Illinois Institute of Technology with a pari of first-place finishes. The senior won the 100-meter freestyle in 55.38 and the 200-meter freestyle in 2:02.69.


Erin Motzer
Lake Forest

Motzer, a senior from Libertyville, Ill., (Libertyville HS), helped Lake Forest defeat the Illinois College Institute of Technology. The senior swam on the winning 200-meter medley relay and finished first in the 200-meter IM with a time of 2:41.11. Motzer also placed fourth in the 50-meter freestyle in 30.92.
