Ben Olson - Monmouth College
Junior - Oneida, Ill.
Seeing his first regular action with the Varsity this season, the junior has been the Fighting Scots’ leading scoring and that didn’t change when the Scots played two tournaments last week. At Wednesday’s Illinois College Invite, Olson fired a 70 to take medalist honors for the first time this spring. He followed that with a blistering Day 2 round at the weekend’s 27-hole rain-shortened Scot-Fire Invitational. Olson carded a Day 2 18-hole score of a near-school record 67 to lead the Fighting Scots to a school-record 18-hole round of 288. His 39 on the first day’s nine holes gave him a tournament total 106 to tie for third, just three strokes out of medalist honors. For the week, Olson averaged 70.4 strokes per round.
