Silas Connelly - Midfielder - Beloit College
Senior - Madison, Wis.
In last Wednesday’s season-opening 3-1 win at Wisconsin Lutheran College, Connelly scored all three of Beloit’s goals, two in the first 24 minutes of the match and the third with 15 minutes left after WLC had cut the Buccaneer lead in half seven minutes earlier. With the three tallies Connelly has already matched his goal output from last season when he scored three goals and added two assists for the Buccaneers.
September 13
Kevin Cederholm - Forward - Ripon College
Senior - New Berlin, Wis.
Cederholm continued his hot start to the 2010 season, as he helped Ripon win both their games last week, including their conference-opener at Lake Forest, to keep the Red Hawks undefeated with a 4-0 record. In a 3-1 win against Lakeland, Cederholm assisted on one goal, while scoring the winning goal in the 77th minute. He followed that up with another game-winner, the only goal scored in the game, in Ripon’s 1-0 win at Lake Forest. In four games this season, Cederholm already has three goals and two assists.
September 20
Mark Rosenberg - Forward - Grinnell College
Senior - Oak Park, Ill.
Rosenberg shattered a pair of Grinnell school records in the team’s 5-3 come-from-behind victory over Eureka College Sunday at the Sal Vaccaro Tournament hosted by North Central College. He tallied three assists, breaking the previous program best of two, and fired 15 shots to snap the previous Pioneer high of nine. Grinnell also had 45 shots as a team to break a school record and move into second-place all-time on the Midwest Conference chart. For the season, Rosenberg has five assists and three goals.
September 27
Mahir Mameledzija - Forward - Lake Forest College
Freshman - Visoko, Bosnia Herzegovina
Mameledzija scored one goal and assisted on two others in both of Lake Forest’s victories last week. He assisted on the first goal, scored the third, and set up the fourth in a 4-0 triumph over visiting Benedictine University on Wednesday. The Foresters prevailed 3-0 at St. Norbert College on Saturday and Mameledzija assisted on the game’s first goal, scored the second, and assisted on the third to complete an 8-point week.
October 4
Mark Rosenberg - Forward - Grinnell College
Senior - Oak Park, Ill.
Rosenberg scored three of Grinnell’s four goals over the weekend as the Pioneers continued to be perfect in Midwest Conference play with wins of 1-0 over St. Norbert College and 3-2 over Lawrence University. Rosenberg scored on a penalty kick against St. Norbert and tallied a goal in each half of the win over Lawrence. He also had an assist against Lawrence as Grinnell moved to 3-0 in the league. For the year, he has seven goals and six assists.
October 11
Mark Rosenberg - Forward - Grinnell College
Senior - Oak Park, Ill.
In two games over the weekend, Rosenberg tallied the only goal of the game in a 1-0 victory at Monmouth College and added an assist in a 3-0 victory at Knox College. The victories sent Grinnell to 5-0 in the Midwest Conference for the first time since 2006. For the season, Rosenberg ranks among the MWC leaders with eight goals and seven assists, both team-highs.
October 18
Stephen Exarhos - Forward - Lawrence University
Junior - Oak Park, Ill.
Exharos scored two goals and picked up an assist as Lawrence swept a pair of Midwest Conference matches this weekend. In a 3-2 overtime victory over Illinois College on Sunday, Exarhos scored the game-winning goal 3:21 into overtime when he blasted a shot from just inside the penalty box to break the 2-2 tie. Exarhos also scored on a brilliant header at the 15:19 mark off a free kick from Hashim Allah-Morad. In a 3-0 victory over Monmouth on Saturday, Exarhos provided the assist on the first goal of the game, which proved to be the game-winner.
October 25
Andy Ksobiech - Forward - Carroll University
Sophomore - Muskego, Wis.
Ksobiech notched a pair of game-winning goals last week, helping the Carroll University men’s soccer team secure a berth in the Midwest Conference’s post-season tournament for the fifth-consecutive season. Ksobiech scored in the 18th minute of CU’s 2-0 win over Beloit then tallied the game-winning goal in the 82nd minute in a 1-0 victory over St. Norbert College. Carroll, 10-6-1 overall, 8-1 in the MWC, are assured of at least a second place finish in the league standings.
November 1
Stephen Egan - Forward - Lake Forest College
Junior - York Harbor, Maine
Egan had a five-point weekend as Lake Forest finished its season with a pair of league victories. Egan assisted on the first goal and scored the third in the Foresters’ 3-1 triumph over visiting Illinois College on Saturday. The team hosted and defeated Monmouth College 1-0 on Sunday and he netted the game’s only goal with 15:28 to play in the contest.
