Week 1: March 20, 2006

Erin Watts - Lake Forest College - Junior - OF/SS - Evergreen Park, Ill./Evergreen Park
Watts batted .500 during the course of the Foresters nine-game spring trip, as the junior outfielder/shortstop recorded at least one base hit in eight of the nine contests. Watts, who snagged three stolen bases during the trip, led Lake Forest with 16 hits, 10 runs and 13 RBI. She also notched two doubles and two triples to finish the trip with a .688 slugging percentage.

Stacy Salomone - Beloit College - Junior - RHP/Outfield - Palatine, Ill./Palatine
Salomone paced the Beloit pitching staff during the team’s Florida trip, as the junior righty recorded half of the 6-3 Bucs’ victories. Salomone is off to a 3-0 start in 2006 and has a 1.72 ERA to go along with 11 strikeouts in 15.2 innings of work. Opponents managed a scant .193 batting average against her, while Salomone also managed to contribute at the plate as an outfielder, hitting .414 with a team-high 13 RBI.

Christy Condon - Lake Forest College - Sophomore - 1B/OF - Brookfield, Wis./East
Condon belted a pair of home runs last week to lead the Foresters to a doubleheader sweep over Milwaukee School of Engineering. The sophomore slugger was 1-for-3 with a two-run shot in an 8-1 victory and 2-for-3 with a three-run blast in a 10-2 win in the second contest.

Ashley Closson - Lake Forest College - Senior - RHP/1B - Murphysboro, Ill./Murphysboro
Closson did not allow an earned run as she stymied the Milwaukee School of Engineering offense in the Foresters 10-2 win over MSOE on Saturday. The senior righty allowed three hits in the contest and managed to strikeout 10 opposing hitters, despite having the game shortened to five innings.
 
Week 3: April 3, 2006

Erinn Brooks - Beloit College - Sophomore - Catcher - Beloit, Wis./Beloit
Brooks hit .444 with four hits in nine at-bats last week, as the Bucs came away winners in three of their four contests. The sophomore catcher drove in three runs and also clubbed a home run to bring her slugging percentage to .778 for the week. She was also perfect behind the plate and posted a .500 on-base percentage. Brooks leads the Beloit regulars with a .389 batting average this season.

Kendra Grant - Lake Forest College - Sophomore - RHP - Bothell, Wash./Bothell
Grant started the openers in a pair of MWC doubleheaders last week, winning both games to get the Foresters off to a 3-1 start in league play. Grant notched her third career shutout in the Foresters’ 7-0 triumph at Illinois College Friday, as the sophomore righty surrendered four hits and struck out four. She improved her record to 4-1 on the season after going the distance in Saturday’s 8-6 win at Monmouth. Grant held opponents to a .268 batting average on the week, lowering her ERA to 2.19 in the process.
 
Week 4: April 10, 2006

Christy Condon - Lake Forest College - Sophomore - Outfield - Brookfield, Wis./East
Condon slugged her way to Performer of the Week honors for the second time this season after leading Lake Forest to a 3-2 mark at the MWC Classic. The sophomore outfielder was 9-for-14 at the plate (.643), with a double, a triple, and four home runs for a 1.714 slugging percentage. She also scored five runs and tallied eight RBI. Condon, who hit her home runs against four different teams, had at least one base hit and one RBI in all five games, including a walk-off solo blast in the bottom of the seventh inning in a 2-1 win over Ripon.

Sarah Christensen - Monmouth College - Freshman - RHP - Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg
Christensen was the winning pitcher in four contests last week, including three W’s at the MWC Classic. Christensen’s other victory came in a 3-2 triumph over perennial power Aurora, who entered the game with a 22-1 mark. The freshman righty downed Beloit, Ripon and Lawrence at the Classic, posting a 1.17 ERA with 14 strikeouts on the week.
Mara Resch - St. Norbert College - Sophomore - RHP Weyauwega, Wis./Weyauwega-Fremont
Resch posted a 4-1 record last week, recording victories over Marian, Illinois College, Lake Forest and Monmouth. Resch, whose lone loss came in a 1-0 decision, allowed 22 hits in 30 innings pitched, holding opponents to a .210 batting average. The sophomore’s 0.93 ERA last week lowered her season ERA to 2.17. She also ranks fourth in conference with 56 total K’s.
 
Week 5: April 17, 2006

Christy Condon - Lake Forest College - Sophomore - 1B/Outfield - Brookfield, Wis./East
Condon continued to dominate opposing pitching last week, batting .615 in four Forester victories, while also setting a school home run record en route to her third Performer of the Week selection in four weeks. Condon hit three home runs last week to bring her season total to nine, a new single-season school record. Condon’s two-run homer in the sixth inning of Saturday’s contest against Grinnell lifted Lake Forest to a 5-4 lead. The sophomore outfielder added two more round-trippers in game two, as Lake Forest cruised to an 11-6 win. Condon closed the week with a 1.538 slugging percentage to go with six runs and six RBI.

Catherine Marinac - Lawrence University - Sophomore - RHP - St. Paul, Minn./Central
Marinac went 2-0 on the mound last week, leading Lawrence to its first victory over the University of Chicago since 1985. On the week, the sophomore righty posted a 1.00 ERA in 14 innings. She struck out four and walked six, while holding opposing hitters to a .224 batting average. Marinac allowed five hits and struck out three in a 3-2 complete-game win over MWC foe Carroll on Wednesday, before picking up her second shutout of the season in a 3-0 triumph over Chicago on Friday. Marinac went the distance against Chicago as well, scattering six hits with two K’s.
 
Week 6: April 24, 2006

Loni Philbrick-Linzmeyer - Lawrence University - Senior - Catcher - Green Bay, Wis./East
Philbrick-Linzmeyer batted .467 for the week and drove in 10 runs in six games to become the Vikings career RBI leader with 91 runs batted in. The senior catcher went 7-for-15 with a double, a home run and 10 RBI. Philbrick-Linzmeyer, who also drew five walks, compiled a .591 on-base percentage and .733 slugging percentage. Her week was highlighted with a 3-for-6, four-RBI performance in a doubleheader sweep over MSOE. She also went 4-for-6 with five RBIs in a doubleheader split at St. Norbert that included a three-run homer in Lawrence’s 7-1 win against the Green Knights.

Jen Mueller - Ripon College - Junior - RHP - Little Suamico, Wis./Oconto Falls
Mueller posted three wins and a save for the Red Hawks last week, as the team went 4-2 and clinched a berth in the 2006 MWC Championship. In the Red Hawk’s 3-2 win over Carroll, Mueller pitched seven innings, giving up two hits and one earned run. In game two, she picked up the save after allowing one hit in two innings of action. The junior righty closed her week with a complete-game shutout victory over Beloit on Saturday and added another complete-game effort during an 8-5 victory against Marian on Sunday.

Anna Coutts - Monmouth College - Sophomore Outfielder - Ladd, Ill/Spring Valley Hall
Coutts continued her torrid hitting last week as the Fighting Scots split four conference contests to stay in the hunt for the final MWC Championship berth. The sophomore outfielder hit .538 for the week, going 7-for-13 with four runs scored, a double, triple and two RBI to raise her season average to .371. Coutts began the week with a bang, going 4-for-4 in the opening game of a twinbill at Knox, as the Scots recorded back-to-back come-from-behind wins over the Prairie Fire. In a pair of losses at Illinois College, Coutts collected three hits while hitting in the number No. 2 spot in the order.

Catherine Marinac - Lawrence University - Sophomore - RHP - St. Paul, Minn./Central
Lawrence entered the week needing to win three of its final four conference contests to clinch an MWC postseason berth and Marinac came through in the clutch, posting a 3-1 record to go along with a 1.50 ERA. The sophomore righty threw all 28 innings, notching a pair of shutouts, while striking out 13 and limiting opponents to a .221 batting average. After starting her week with a 3-1 loss to Ripon, Marinac came back in the nightcap and pitched a four-hit shutout against the MWC North champs. In Saturday’s sweep over Beloit, Marinac combined to strike out nine and allowed three earned runs in the two contests.
