Dann Schneider - St. Norbert College - Freshman

Schneider ran a career-best and event-winning time of 22.94 in the 200-meter dash at Saturday’s Sherman-Lukoski Invitational in Ripon. The freshman scored in three other events as a member of the winning 4x400-meter relay team and the second place 4x100-meter relay. He also went on to place sixth in the 100-meter dash.

Anne Mueller - St. Norbert College - Freshman

Mueller helped the Green Knight women win the Sherman-Lukoski Invitational, edging out Division II Michigan Tech by one point. Mueller recorded a trio of first-place finishes and one second-place finish. The freshman won the 100-meter hurdles and ran legs on the winning 4x100- and 4x400-meter relay teams. She also posted a runner-up finish in the 100-meter dash.

Ben Richardson - Illinois College - Senior
Hannibal, Mo./Hannibal
Competing at the Washington University Invitational on Saturday, Richardson shattered the school-record in the hammer throw event with a toss of 175’07.00”. The effort was good for second-place, is second in the MWC this season, provisionally qualified the senior for the 2008 NCAA National Championships and bettered his previous school record by more than 10 feet.

Jenni Marcell - Ripon College - Senior
Mosinee, Wis./D.C. Everest
Marcell placed first in all four of the throwing events she competed in at the outdoor season opening Sherman-Lukoski Invitational on Saturday. The senior won the shot put (39’09.50”), discus (123’04.25”), hammer throw (132’11.25”) and javelin (107’07.75”) events to help the Red Hawk women to a third-place team finish.

Luke Rescke - Monmouth College - Junior
Geneseo, Ill./Geneseo
Reschke won the 200- and 400-meter races at Saturday’s Wartburg Select meet in Waverly, Iowa. The junior set the conference’s top times in both the 200m and 400m races with times of 22.54 and 48.82, respectively. Reschke also ran a leg on the second-place 4x400 relay and the third-place 4x100 relay teams. The 4x100 team clocked a conference-best time of 42.32.

Shannon Turczyn - Monmouth College - Junior
Peru, Ill./LaSalle-Peru
Turczyn had her best meet of the outdoor season at Saturday’s Wartburg Select meet. The junior sprinter won the 100-meter hurdles and improved her national-best provisional qualifying time by breaking the tape in 14.43. She also took seventh in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.77 and clocked a 12.74 in the 100-meter prelims. She holds the MWC’s top time in the 100 hurdles and the 100 meters. |

Sprecher, the defending NCAA Division III Pole Vault National Champion, looks poised to defend his crown after the senior posted the nation’s top height at Saturday’s Wartburg Select meet. Sprecher cleared 17’00.75” to automatically qualify for the 2008 NCAA National Championships and take the nation’s top spot. |

Megan Clennon - Monmouth College - Senior

Clennon improved on a pair of conference-leading marks at Saturday’s Wartburg Select meet. The senior took top honors in the high jump, clearing a personal-best and provisional qualifying height of 5’05.75”, which also ranks second in the nation this season. Clennon then tossed the javelin a personal-best 115’09.00” to win the event and improve her conference-best distance. |

Jacob Stott - Monmouth College - Junior
Morris, Ill./Coal City
Stott arguably had his best day of the season and career at Saturday’s Lee Calhoun Invitational in Macomb, Illinois. Competing against Division I competition, Stott turned in two lifetime bests, with times of 11.11 and 22.10 in the 100- and 200-meter dashes, respectively. The junior finished second in the 200m, .42 seconds behind the Division I winner. He also ran the anchor leg on the third-place 4x100 relay team that clocked in with a time of 42.66. |

Katie Staab - Monmouth College - Sophomore
Batavia, Ill./Batavia
Running in cold, wet and windy conditions on Saturday at Western Illinois University’s Lee Calhoun Invitational did not slow down Staab, who had a pair of strong performances. The sophomore was the first Division III runner to cross the finish line in the 5,000-meter run, clocking a lifetime best of 19:13.26 to finish sixth. She also ran a 5:13.41 in the 1,500-meter run under windy conditions to place 19th. |

Peter Sprecher - Monmouth College - Senior

Sprecher looks to be in form to repeat as the NCAA Division III men’s outdoor national pole vault champion. At last weekend’s Lee Calhoun Invitational hosted by Western Illinois University, Sprecher won the pole vault and improved his NCAA National Championship automatic qualifying height, clearing a school-record 17’04.50”. He holds the top mark in the conference and nation. |

Jessica White - Monmouth College - Senior
Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg
White won the pole vault at last weekend’s Lee Calhoun Invitational hosted by Western Illinois University, moving up in the national rankings in the process. In a field that included Division I competition, White cleared a season-best and provisional-qualifying 12’05.50” to tie for first with a vaulter from Western Illinois University. White’s new mark moved her into a tie for third in the national rankings. |

Aaron Etienne - Monmouth College - Senior

Etienne had the best meet of his collegiate career Saturday at the Benedictine Invitational in Lisle, Illinois. The senior distance runner set career marks en route to a pair of event victories. His first-place career-best time of 4:00.84 in the 1,500-meter run is the fastest time in the MWC this season by nearly nine seconds. He also won the 5,000-meter run and clocked the third fastest time in the league with a personal-best time of 15:19.05. |

Candice Norville - Illinois College - Sophomore
Batavia, Ill./Batavia
Norville finished second in the women’s 400-meter dash with a time of 59.39 at Tuesday’s Don Luy Invitational hosted by Millikin. Her time set a new Illinois College record in the event, as the Lady Blues finished third in the seven-team field. The sophomore also finished fourth in the javelin with an effort of 83’06.25”. |

Dink Simmons - Illinois College - Junior

Simmons won the men’s long jump at Tuesday’s Don Luy Invitational hosted by Millikin. The junior’s leap of 22’10.00” provisionally qualified him for the NCAA Division III National Championship meet and was the top mark in the MWC this season. Simmons also took second in the triple jump after an effort of 44’00.25” in the event. The Blueboys placed first among the nine-team field at the meet. |

Emily Sommers - St. Norbert College - Sophomore
Hortonville, Wis./Hortonville
Sommers moved into the top 3 in the MWC in a pair of events at Friday’s Wheaton Twilight. Long jumping for the first time this season, Sommers leaped 16’06.00” to place seventh and also threw the javelin far enough (107’01.75”) for a fifth-place finish. The Green Knight women placed sixth in the 12-team field.

Mark Hughes - Illinois College - Sophomore
Center, Mo./Mark Twain
Hughes established an Illinois College record in the 400-meter run at Wednesday’s Millikin Quad and then broke that record at Saturday’s SIU-Edwardsville Cougar Twilight. The sophomore posted times of 49.44 and 49.36, finishing first and sixth, respectively, at the two meets. Hughes also placed eighth at SIUE in the 200-meter run (22.43), and ran on the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams that both placed in the top 6 against Division I and II competition. |

Amanda Hammermeister - Beloit College - Senior
Ketchikan, Alaska
Hammermeister broke the Beloit school record in the 10,000-meter run at Saturday’s Wisconsin Private School Championships at Ripon. The senior’s time of 38:49.11 bested the time set by Jen Kennington in 1999 by 45 seconds and was good for first-place by nearly a minute.

Eric Eyler - Illinois College - Sophomore
Rushville, Ill./Rushville
Eyler posted an NCAA Division III provisional qualifying mark in the pole vault when the sophomore cleared 15’05.00” at the SIU-Edwardsville Cougar Twilight on Saturday. Eyler’s mark is a new school record, was good for sixth-place and made him the top finisher among NCAA Division III competitors at the meet. |

Rebecca Grafenauer - Carroll College - Sophomore
Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater
Grafenauer set a new school record in the pole vault when she cleared 11’09.00” to win the event at Saturday’s Wisconsin Private College Championships in Ripon. The sophomore’s first-place finish helped the Lady Pioneers to a second-place team finish, tops among MWC schools in attendance. Grafenauer’s effort also broke the school record of 11’07.25” set by Katie Pierce in 2004. |

Clay Staley - Monmouth College - Sophomore
Hanna City, Ill./Illini Bluffs
Competing at the 28-team Butler Twilight Meet in Indianapolis, Indiana on Saturday, Staley placed third in the steeplechase. His time of 9:26.76 was a personal-best and just under four seconds off the NCAA provisional qualifying time. He improved his conference-leading time by more than nine seconds as the Fighting Scots finished second in the team competition. |

Shannon Turczyn - Monmouth College - Junior

Competing at the 26-team Butler Twilight Meet in Indianapolis, Indiana against a field that included Division I schools, Turczyn ran an NCAA automatic qualifying time in the 100-meter hurdles. Her time of 14.29 was also a school record and currently ranks third in the nation. The junior sprinter also ran a personal-best and tied the MWC’s top time with a 12.64 in the 100-meter dash to place ninth. Turczyn closed her day by running a leg on Monmouth’s second place 4x100 relay team (51.79). |

Alex Albers - St. Norbert College - Senior

Albers broke a 44-year old school record in the pole vault at Saturday’s Ripon Invite with a winning mark of 14’09.50”. The senior was on pace to break the indoor school record earlier this season before breaking his elbow with two meets remaining. Saturday was his second meet back since the injury. He also added a second-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles.

Jenny Babos - Monmouth College - Senior

Competing at Saturday’s Butler Twilight Meet against a field that included Division I schools, Babos posted a pair of NCAA provisional-qualifying marks in the field events. She placed third in the discus with a throw of 147’09.00” and fourth in the shot put at 43’07.75”. She improved her league-leading shot put mark by more than a foot. The senior also threw the hammer 138’08.00” to place seventh. |
