GRINNELL, Iowa - Grinnell College's Olivia Jensen has earned Midwest Conference (MWC) Volleyball Offensive Performer of the Week honors and St. Norbert College's Lexie Van Hiel has earned the Defensive Performer of the Week award.
Weekly Notes
Jensen had a scorching .519 hitting percentage as the Pioneers had a perfect record at the North Central University Invitational over the weekend. She had 43 kills in 71 attempts with just six errors as Grinnell improved to 4-2 on the season. Additionally, she had eight service aces and five block assists. In two matches at the tourney, Jensen recorded hitting efficiencies that rank sixth and seventh in program history.
Van Hiel had a solid week defensively as the Green Knights went 3-2. Van Hiel was named to the All-Tournament Team at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, where St. Norbert went 3-1. Van Hiel finished with 14 total blocks, including four solos. Van Hiel had a .278 hitting percentage with 32 kills and 12 errors in 72 attempts.
Notable Performances
Knox College's Emily Mosher racked up 142 assists over five matches. In the Prairie Fire's victories over Eureka College and the University of Wisconsin-Superior, she averaged 37 assists. Teammate Jeanette Peebles earned all-tournament honors at Macalester College last weekend totaling 13 blocks (six solo, seven assists) and 29 kills. She added a block and 11 kills in a victory over Eureka earlier in the week. She is currently second in the MWC with .95 blocks per set.
Halie Ferry helped St. Norbert to a 3-2 week. Ferry paced the Green Knights with a .346 hitting percentage, connecting on 57 kills with 12 errors in 130 attempts. Her 57 kills in 17 sets were good for 3.35 kills per set. She also had 25 digs, seven service aces, seven assists and five blocks.
Jillian Schulte was named all-tournament at the Loras College Invitational, leading 19th-ranked Cornell College (7-2) to a 3-1 record with three sweeps. The junior setter averaged 9.12 assists per set, totaled 52 digs (3.06 dps) and also compiled a team-best .354 attack percentage.
