JACKSONVILLE, Ill.  – For the second time in school history, the St. Norbert College women’s cross country team has won back-to-back Midwest Conference (MWC) Championships.  The Green Knights also accomplished the feat in 2002-2003.

Results

The Green Knights produced eight All-MWC performers en route to the league title and were led by runner-up Taylor Domro.  Sarah Parbs and Graceanne Tarsa took fifth and sixth, respectively, while Gretchen Price recorded a 10th-place finish.  Tori Nelsen finished the scoring for the champs as she crossed the finish line in 14th.  Alyssa Wegner, Elisabeth Klumpyan and Abby Janto also placed in the top 20 to earn All-MWC honors.  Domro, Nelsen, Janto, Tarsa, Wegner and Price all were all-conference runners in 2016.

St. Norbert finished with 37 points, while Grinnell College took second with 63.  The Green Knight coaches were named the Coaching Staff of the Year, following the race.  Tarsa also earned the conference’s Elite 20 Award, which is given to the competing student-athlete with the highest grade-point average. Tarsa is double majoring in biology and math.

Cornell College’s MariKate Murphy was the individual champion, making her the third consecutive Ram to take home the title.  It is the first time in conference history that a program has produced the league champion for three consecutive years by three different women.

Lake Forest College’s Yaneli Guajardo was named the conference’s Newcomer of the Year after she finished in 12th
