Williamson, Vrecenar Earn Weekly Volleyball Accolades

GRINNELL, Iowa – Ripon College’s Abbi Williamson put forth a huge effort in the Red Hawks’ conference opener and has been named the Midwest Conference Offensive Performer of the Week, while Grinnell College sophomore Sydney Vrecenar earned Defensive honors.

In Ripon's only match last week, Williamson helped the Red Hawks get off to a great start to the conference season with a five-set victory at Carroll University. She finished the match with 53 assists, which is four shy of her career-high. Only a junior, Williamson now has 2,431 career assists, which ranks fourth in school history and is less than 300 shy of the number one total.

Vrecenar had a solid weekend for the Pioneers. She recorded 10 digs and had an assist in a match with Lawrence University and followed up with 11 digs and two service aces against St. Norbert College.

Notable Performances
Taylor Kuehl of Carroll University had 41 assists in  a 3-1 win against Lawrence University, and added 51 in a five-set thriller against Ripon.  She also added six kills, 24 digs and three block assists in the three matches. 

Lisa Lowry was the top offensive threat for Illinois College in a pair of clutch five-set wins on Sept. 25. In a tri-match against Webster University and Iowa Wesleyan University, the junior outside hitter had 37 kills and a .218 hitting percentage. She began the day with 17 kills against Webster and ended with 20 against Iowa Wesleyan, including nine in the fourth and fifth sets as IC rallied from a 2-1 deficit.

Kaitlin Delahaut led St. Norbert to two big Midwest Conference wins last week. Delahaut finished with 16 assists and nine digs in Friday's 3-0 win over Cornell, which snapped the Rams' 36-match winning streak against MWC opponents. Delahaut followed up with 20 assists and five digs in Saturday's 3-0 win over Grinnell.
