GRINNELL, Iowa – The Illinois College and Monmouth College women’s golf teams have tied at the top of the 2015 Midwest Conference Women’s Golf Preseason Coaches’ Poll.
Both the Lady Blues and the Fighting Scots earned three first-place votes, on their way to 37 points. Illinois College finished third at last year’s MWC Championship, while the Fighting Scots took second.
Carroll University finished a close third with 34 points and received all second and third-place votes. Two-time defending champion Grinnell College earned the seventh and final first-place tally and earned 25 points to come in fourth.
Fontbonne University is expected to finish fifth (22) in its first year as an affiliate member in the Midwest Conference. Lake Forest College (21), St. Norbert College (13) and Knox College complete the poll (7).
Voting is done by the MWC's head coaches. Each coach votes for the seven other schools in the conference in order of predicted finish. Points are assigned in reverse order of voting (seven points for first, six for second, etc.). Coaches do not vote for their own teams.
