GRINNELL, Iowa – Lake Forest College’s Dylan Hartman was named the Midwest Conference Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year by the league’s coaches and Knox College’s Charles Edemba was named the league’s Defensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. St. Norbert College’s Derek Rhodes earned Coach of the Year honors after leading the Green Knights to the league’s regular season title.
Hartman led the conference with 35 points and 11 assists and was second in the league with 12 goals. He also led the NCAA qualifiers and MWC Tournament champions with 48 shots, including 27 on goals. The senior also scored the opening goal of Lake Forest’s win in the tournament final against Knox College last Saturday.
Edemba becomes the third player in conference history to earn multiple Defensive Player of the Year honors. The senior led a defense that allowed just 10 goals in Midwest Conference action and produced four shutouts in 10 games. For the season, the Prairie Fire shut out eight teams and produced a goals against average of 0.86.
Knox, Lake Forest and Grinnell College had four players selected to the all-conference team to lead the league. Conference champion St. Norbert had three First Team picks, while Carroll University placed two on the First Team and one on the Second Team.
