GRINNELL, Iowa – The Grinnell women captured its second straight championship while the Lake Forest men snapped a 12 year run by Grinnell for a championship at the 2014 Midwest Conference (MWC) Swimming & Diving Championships.
The Grinnell women have now won 15 of the last 16 women’s championships and finished the three day event with 894 points. Lake Forest finished runner-up on the women’s side with 685.5 points while Carroll had 427 points for third place. The Lake Forest men captured its first championship since the 2001 season with 944 points while Grinnell (893) and Monmouth (396) rounded out the top-three.
Five more MWC records were broken on Sunday that include Ian Dixon-Anderson (Grinnell, 1650-freestyle), Emily Bowens (Lake Forest, 200-backstroke), Garr Punnett (Lake Forest, 200-butterfly), and both the men’s and women’s 400-freestyle relay teams from Grinnell.
Five swimmers earned NCAA “B” cut times that include: Ian Dixon-Anderson (Grinnell, 1650-freestyle), Garr Punnett (Lake Forest, 200-butterfly), Michael Brus (Grinnell, 200-backstroke), Kristopher Korth (Lake Forest, 200-breststroke), and Emile Siroit (Lake Forest, 200-butterfly)
