Lake Forest Men, Grinnell Women, Hold Lead After Two Day At MWC Swimming Championships

GRINNELL, Iowa – After two days at the 2014 Midwest Conference (MWC) Swimming & Diving Championships not much has changed as the Lake Forest men and the Grinnell women hold the top spots entering the final day of competition.

The Lake Forest men’s team earned 625 points through two days of competition and lead runner-up Grinnell by only 28 points. The Grinnell men chalked up 623 points in two days and leads second place Lake Forest by 136 points.

Five more conference records were broken on Saturday which included the both the Grinnell men and women’s 800-freestyle relay teams. Kristopher Korth set a new record in the 100-breaststroke while Garr Punnett broke a record in the 100-butterfly and Sam Freedberg did the same in the 400-individual medley. All of the swimmer that earned new MWC records earned NCAA “B” cut times

Other swimmers that earned NCAA “B” cut times on the day were Ian Dixon-Anderson (Grinnell, 400-individual medley) and Kristopher Korth (Lake Forest, 400-individual medley)
