Lake Forest Men, Grinnell Women, Lead After Day One Of MWC Swimming Championships

GRINNELL, Iowa – The Lake Forest men and Grinnell women hold the top spots after the first day of the 2014 Midwest Conference Swimming and Diving Championships hosted by Grinnell College.

The Lake Forest men racked up 267 points to hold a 19 point lead over Grinnell while the Grinnell women accumulated 258 points and lead Lake Forest by 53 points.

Lake Forest won five events on the day while Grinnell was right behind with four victories. Carroll won a pair of events while Lawrence claimed a victory during the first day of action.

Two records were broken during the first day of competition as the Carroll 200-freestyle relay team broke swam a record time as did Michael Brus in the 200-indivudual medley. With his time in the 200-individual medley Brus made an NCAA “B” cut time as did Sam Freedberg (Lake Forest) in the 200-individual medley.
