GRINNELL, Iowa – Macalester College head coach Tony Jennison and Illinois College head coach Garrett Campbell both led their teams to Midwest Conference (MWC) division titles and were named the Coaches of the Year of their respective divisions on Tuesday.

Campbell coached the Blueboys to a 7-3 regular season record and a MWC South Division championships, while Jennison led the Scots to a 9-1 regular season record and both a MWC North Division title and a Midwest Conference championship.

Leading the way on the field for the Scots was MWC Offensive Skill Position MVP Samson Bialostok.  The senior quarterback ran for 706 yards and 13 touchdowns and threw for 1,716 yards and 12 scores.  Bialostok also finished second in the league with 2,422 yards of total offense and was tied for third in scoring with 78 points.  Bialostok also orchestrated a 13-play 53 yard game-winning drive last weekend against Illinois College that ended with a Michael Abramson field goal that sent the Scots to the playoff for the first time in school history.

Cornell College’s Sam Cluck earned Offensive Line MVP honors.  The senior plowed the way for a Ram offense that averaged 403 yards per game and scored an average of 31 points per game.  Earning the Defensive Line MVP award was Illinois College’s James Dambacher.  The senior led the conference with 10.5 sacks and 22 tackles for loss.  He also forced three fumbles.

Three-time MWC Performer of the Week Ryan Klapper of Carroll University was named the Defensive Skill MVP.  Klapper picked off five passes and returned two of them for touchdowns.  He also averaged 5.4 tackles per game from his defensive back position.
