[Game 6 – St. Norbert 5, Ripon 2]

RIPON, Wis. – St. Norbert and Ripon went to the wire in the first championship game and it was the Green Knights who prevailed and forced a winner take all second championship game with a 5-2 victory in ten innings at the 2013 MWC Baseball Championship.

Ripon cracked the scoreboard first in the bottom of the fourth inning with a Nate Siudak RBI infield single that scored Tom Sawyer who singled with two outs in the inning. St. Norbert answered back in the top half of the next inning when Brandon Kozinski singled home Alex Larsen with two outs to tie the score at one.

The scored stayed tied at one till the eighth inning when each team scored a run. St. Norbert scored first in the top of the inning with a Nick Pierre RBI groundout. Ripon scored in the bottom of the inning with an Adam Grambow bunt base hit that scored Kyle Bosquez.

The teams battled back and forth through extra inning when the Green Knights struck for three runs on three hits and a Ripon error to plate the game winning runs. Chad Ljunggrens and Jose Godinez both singled to start off the inning before Ljunggrens scored on a wild pitch with one out and then Godinez scored via an Alex Larson bunt single.

St. Norbert was led by Godinez who went 3-for-4 with two runs scored while Larsen went 3-for-5 with a run batted in and a run scored. Brett Nohr went the distance tossing all ten innings allowing 11 hits and striking out two for his seventh win.

Bosquez and Sawyer each had three hits in the loss for Ripon while Grambow contributed a pair of hits. Marshall Zahn took the loss in relief as he tossed three innings, yielding seven hits and four runs.

St. Norbert and Ripon will now play at 4 p.m. with the winner earning the MWC automatic bid to the NCAA Championship and the 2013 MWC Baseball Championship.
