Monmouth Continues Outdoor Track Championship Dominance

DE PERE, Wis. – With wins on both the men’s and women’s side the Monmouth Fighting Scots have now swept the competition for the last eight years at the 2012 Midwest Conference Track and Field Championships hosted by St. Norbert College.

On the women’s side the Fighting Scots bested St. Norbert by 139 points for the championship with a two day total of 250.50. Carroll finished in third just a mere five points behind St. Norbert (111.50) with Illinois Col. picking up 96 points. Grinnell was ten points behind the Lady Blues with 86 points while Ripon (58.50), Lawrence (30), Beloit (25) and Knox (16) rounded out the field.

Monmouth men took 230 points which was 95 more than runner-up St. Norbert (135). Carroll earned 115 points for a third place finish while Ripon was a distant fourth with 73 points. Grinnell (52.50) and Lawrence (50) were separated by only 2.50 points for fifth and sixth, respectively with Illinois Col. (44.50), Knox (42) and Beloit (37) finishing out the field on the men’s side.

Eight different Midwest Conference records were broken on the second day of action which included individual efforts from Missy Norville (triple jump, 100-hurdles), Amanda Trieloff (javelin), Justin Johnson (110-hurdles), Adam Sellner (hammer) and Emily Schudrowitz (800-run). The St. Norbert women’s 4x400 and the Monmouth men’s 4x100 also set records.

Overall 27 individual awards were given out on the final day of action with the following champions being crowned:
