JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – At the end of one day at the 2012 Midwest Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships the Fighting Scots from Monmouth lead both events as they look for their 11th straight sweep of the championships.
On the women’s side Monmouth racked up 83 points and is 42 points ahead of runner-up St. Norbert. Illinois C. checks in third place with 32.50 points. Monmouth won four of the seven events on the first day of action while host Illinois C., Grinnell and Carroll also picked up victories.
The Monmouth men scored 69 points and is just ahead of Carroll with 46 points and St. Norbert with 38 points. The Fighting Scots won three individual champioinships while Illinois C., Lawrence, Ripon and Carroll also had a champion.
There were two records broken on day one as Allison Devor set the new top mark in the shot put while Missy Norville broke her own record in the long jump.
