Midwest Conference Continues Play for the Cure Initiative

RIPON, Wis. - For the second year the Midwest Conference is proud to support an umbrella cancer initiative known as Play for the Cure. Play for the Cure aims to promote awareness for early detection of cancer and raise funds dedicated to cancer research and prevention.

In the fall Play for the Cure will run from September 30-October 9 which encompasses events over the sports of cross country, football, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, women’s tennis, women’s golf and volleyball.

At select MWC contests the participating teams will be wearing pink “Play for the Cure” t-shirts in pre-game warm-ups. Play for the Cure shirts will also be available for sale during various home contests with help from Student-Athlete Advisory Committees as well as other various cancer donation initiatives.

The MWC will continue the initiative throughout the 2011-2012 season in the winter (February 3-12) and spring (April 13-22). All proceeds from Play for the Cure will be donated to various cancer charities for research into its cause, prevention and cure.
