Ripon, Wis. - The Midwest Conference men’s and women’s basketball teams will continue efforts to raise cancer awareness by participating in the “Play for the Cure” initiative during the month of February.
For the month of February teams will be wearing pink “Play for the Cure” tees in pre-game warm-ups during select conference games. “Play for the Cure” tees will also be available for sale during various home contests with help from Student-Athlete Advisory Committees.
During the month of October the conference and MWC volleyball teams partnered during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM) to raise money and awareness for breast cancer which spanned over seven MWC contests.
“We are pleased that our basketball teams are joining this initiative as we raise awareness and support for cancer research.” noted Chris Graham, Midwest Conference Commissioner.
The NBCAM program is dedicated to increasing public knowledge about the importance of early detection of breast cancer.
