Ripon College SAAC Group Volunteers At “Breakfast With Santa”

RIPON, Wis. - The Ripon College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) volunteered at the Breakfast with Santa event Saturday, December 4, 2010, which was part of the 20th annual Dickens of a Christmas Celebration in Ripon.

At the Breakfast with Santa, children and their families enjoyed a hot breakfast, the opportunity to meet Santa and other fun children’s activities. The SAAC members helped children in the community get their picture with Santa and Mrs. Clause, frost and decorate Christmas cookies, and color Christmas pictures.

“I think this was a fun community service activity and that the students really enjoyed the
experience,” said SAAC advisor Kate Barnett.

The festivities were started by Ripon community members who wanted to pay tribute to the Victorian architecture and homes throughout Ripon. This Victorian-themed festival has become a tradition on the first weekend in December for the community and many of the businesses in Ripon to enjoy.

"Breakfast with Santa was wonderful,” Cross Country SAAC Representative Katie Williams said. “It was a great way for SAAC to get into the Holiday spirit by decorating cookies, eating breakfast and coloring with children from around the Ripon community."
