Monmouth, Ill. - Beloit ousted the two-time defending tournament champion St. Norbert Green Knights and earned a trip to the NCAA Tournament with a 3-0 victory in the 2010 Midwest Conference Volleyball Tournament in Monmouth, Ill. In the sweep Beloit won by the scores of 25-23, 29-27 and 25-19.
Beloit used a match-high 15 kills and five blocks from Laura Toth to set the tone for the Buccaneers. Tess Jacquez (13 kills, 13 digs) picked up a double-double for the second straight day as five different Bucs recorded double figure digs, led by Margo Regier with 22. Caitlin O’Leary recorded 34 assists and Mark Parker had nine kills to pace the tournament champions.
St. Norbert was led by Sarah Sulentic who was the only Green Knight with double figure kills, with 12. Catherine Guido contributed a game-high 30 digs and Lidsay Wiebe chipped in 15 digs in the loss. St. Norbert managed to hit only .062 in the match.
With the win Beloit earns the automatic bid into the 2010 NCAA Tournament. The Buccaneers will find out their opponent on Monday, November 8 at 10 a.m. CST during the NCAA Volleyball Selection Show. Fans will be able to watch the selection show live by going to the NCAA Volleyball page which can be
