Dan LaFountaine - Grinnell College
Senior - St. Cloud, Minn./Apollo HS
LaFountaine teamed up with fellow senior Nate Fox to post doubles wins in the Pioneers’ matches against nationally-ranked Kalamazoo College and the University of Chicago. They beat their foe from Kalamazoo, ranked 28th nationally, by an 8-4 score and posted an identical 8-4 win over the opponent from Chicago, which entered the match ranked 25th. The wins boosted their record in 2009 to 5-0. LaFountaine also won his singles match against Chicago |

Eric Brandhorst - Monmouth College
Senior - Quincy, Ill./Quincy
Brandhorst was solid in helping the Fighting Scots to a 2-0 weekend. Monmouth downed the University of Dubuque 5-4 and shutout Eureka College 9-0. Brandhorst didn’t lose a match and dropped only three singles sets the entire weekend. Playing at No. 3 singles, he downed Dubuque’s Austin Stewart 6-1, 6-1 and cruised past Eureka’s Gordon Barkley 6-0, 6-1. Teaming with Chris Utterback at No. 2 doubles, Brandhorst completed the perfect weekend as the Scots No. 2 team defeated Dubuque 8-2 and Eureka 8-1. |

Caleb Ray - Lawrence University
Freshman - Austin, Texas/Lyndon B. Johnson
Ray posted a 4-0 record on the week, including a come-from-behind victory in Lawrence’s win over Concordia (Wis.) University this past Saturday. Ray was down 5-0 in the first set to Concordia’s Austin Sveom at No. 4 singles and rallied to win the first set 7-6 (7-3) and then took the second set 6-4. He also teamed with Travis Fondow to win 8-4 at No. 2 doubles, and the Vikings beat Concordia 6-3. In Lawrence’s 9-0 win over Marian on Saturday, Ray beat Jory Lawson 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 singles and then teamed with Fondow to win 8-2 at No. 1 doubles. |

Juan Carlos Perez - Grinnell College
Sophomore - Quito, Ecuador/Martim Cerere
Perez, ranked fifth in the NCAA Division III Central Region, was perfect during Grinnell’s trip to Orlando, Fla., going 5-0 in singles play and 4-0 in doubles. Among the singles wins, he beat the region’s 11th- and 18th-ranked players. He is now 10-3 in singles play during the 2009 spring campaign.

Seth Pamperin - Carroll University
Sophomore - Menomonie, Wis./Regis
Pamperin went 3-1 last week in helping the Carroll University men’s tennis team earn a split on its southern Illinois trip. The Pioneers fell to Monmouth College (8-1) but responded with a win over Knox College (9-0). Pamperin won his No. 2 doubles match against the Fighting Scots (Carroll’s only point) then won both his No. 2 doubles and No. 2 singles matches against the Prairie Fire. Pamperin, along senior teammate John Krewer, improved to 9-0 at the No. 2 doubles flight, the longest winning streak (on record) in Carroll men’s tennis history. |

Nate Fox - Grinnell College
Senior - Silver City, N.M./Silver
Fox was a perfect 5-of-5 during the weekend, winning all three doubles matches with teammate Dan LaFountaine and both singles matches he played. His efforts helped Grinnell to 9-0 wins over both Ripon College and Lawrence University, and provided the Pioneers with the all-important fifth and decisive point in a 5-4 win over regionally-ranked Carleton College. He and LaFountaine now own a 19-2 doubles record, while Fox improved to 12-9 in singles.

John Silseth - Carroll University
Freshman - Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield Central
Silseth played a major role in helping the Carroll University men’s tennis team to wins over Rockford College (8-1) and Aurora University (8-1) last week. Silseth won both of his matches at No. 2 singles, defeating Rockford 6-0, 6-0 and toppling Aurora 6-2, 6-0. He also combined with Michael Wajda for an 8-1 win over Rockford at the No. 1 doubles flight.

Sam Raife - Grinnell College
Junior - Des Moines, Iowa/Roosevelt
Raife was a perfect 6-of-6 during the week, winning all three singles matches and all three doubles matches as the Pioneers defeated Central College, Monmouth College and Knox College. Raife’s victories helped Grinnell secure its ninth Midwest Conference South Division title in a row. |
| Week 10: April 28, 2009 |

Derek Harrington - St. Norbert College
Freshman - Kingsford, Mich.
Harrington swept his weekend matches, winning a pair of matches each at No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles. The wins gave the Green Knights a 7-2 win over Ripon and a 5-4 win over Lawrence for their second straight North Division championship. Harrington is 15-9 overall in singles play this year and has an active nine-match winning streak. Harrington is 11-5 with current doubles partner Nate Tackaberry.
