2005 Midwest Confernce Match Recaps

Sept. 28 – Carroll 4, Beloit 1 – Carroll won its first MWC match of the season behind four goals from four different players. Joey Shoemaker’s second goal of the year in the 54th minute was the game-winner.

Sept. 27 – Lawrence 4, Ripon 0 - Klas Berghede scored Lawrence’s first and last goals during the victory. Matt Wolin made three saves in goal to earn the shutout for the Vikings.

Sept. 25 – Monmouth 3, Grinnell 2 - Paul Kallal scored twice for Monmouth in the match, including the game-winner in the 83rd minute. The Scots were forced to rally in the contest, as Ben Schrager gave Grinnell a 2-0 lead after scoring twice in the game’s first 50 minutes.

Sept. 24 – Beloit 2, Grinnell 0 – Beloit’s Chris Johnson scored goals on both of his shots in the contest, while Bucs goalie Chip Schumacher made one save en route to the shutout victory.

Illinois College 1, Knox 1 (2 OT) – Geoff Owens gave Illinois College a 1-0 lead after scoring in the 29th minute, but Clint Moore forced the tie 15 minutes later when he scored off a pass from Matei Paun.

Lawrence 3, Lake Forest 2 – Elliott Spruell was the third Lawrence player to score in the game, as he netted the game-winner in the 84th minute. Lake Forest’s Jon Duke, who also recorded an assist, had tied the game at 2-2 with a goal in the 73rd minute.

Sept. 21 - Ripon 1, Beloit 0 - Andrew McKee found the back of the net for the first time this season off a pass from Roger Gardea at the 61:20 mark to notch the game's only goal. David Freisleben made five saves in goal for the Red Hawks to earn the shutout.

Sept. 18 – Grinnell 2, Illinois College 1 - Cory Dehler’s goal gave Illinois College a 1-0 halftime lead, but the Pioneers rallied to victory behind second half scores from Ben Schrager and Matt Pflaum. Gideon Erkenswick notched the assist on Pflaum’s game-winner.

St. Norbert 1, Lake Forest 0 (OT) - Eric Buda’s corner kick at the 99:30 mark in overtime set up Nick Bonifas’s game-winner. The Green Knights held Lake Forest to a pair of shots in the game.

Sept. 17 - Knox 2, Grinnell 0 - Isaac Schumann and Clint Moore scored for the Prairie Fire, while Cary Archer made seven saves in 88 minutes to pick up the shutout victory. Grinnell out-shot Knox 15-9.

St. Norbert 8, Beloit 0 - Seven different players scored for the Green Knights, including Nick Bonifas, who netted a pair of goals. Peter Bernardy assisted on three score , while Michael Rietveld and Tony Feller combined for the shutout in goal.

Sept. 11 - Ripon 3, Lake Forest 2 (OT) - Jon Duke scored both Lake Forest goals to give the Foresters an early 2-0 lead in the contest, but Ripon rallied to tie behind netters from Pa Demba Camara and Price Ward. Camara’s second score of the game was the game-winner, coming with just over three minutes remaining in OT.

Sept. 10 – Lake Forest 9, Knox 0 - Eight different players notched goals for the Foresters, while Jacob Elperin and Sam Malmberg combined for the shutout in goal. Seth Byers scored twice and Attila Schmidt added a goal and three assists.
