Four Midwest Conference student-athletes were honored for their athletic and academic successes during the 2006 spring athletic seasons, as COSIDA/ESPN The Magazine announced its 2006 College Division Academic All-District V team. Three MWC men’s tennis players and one men’s golfer from a pair of conference institutions were recognized. St. Norbert tennis players Aaron Sunday (above right) and Andrew Winters (left) were both honored, as Sunday was selected to the first team and Winters the second. Sunday, who finished the season with a 26-2 record, won the top singles flight at the 2006 MWC Championships and went on to compete in the NCAA Championship Tournament. Winters, who earned Academic All-American honors in soccer during the fall, combined to collect over 30 victories between singles and doubles action this year. Winters teamed with fellow junior Sunday for 18 wins in doubles play in 2006. Knox’s Alex Chang (right) was the third and final MWC tennis player chosen, as the junior earned second- team accolades. Chang finished as the runner-up in the No. 4 singles flight at the 2006 MWC Championships and won at least 14 singles matches for the second year in a row. Knox junior golfer Ryan Meier (left) rounded out the league’s selections after being named to the second team. The junior golfer finished third at the 2006 MWC Golf Championships after taking first in 2004 and 2005.
