Week #1 : Dec. 2



Troy Bennett
Monmouth

Bennett, a junior forward from Monmouth, Ill., (Warren HS) averaged 24.7 points per game during a 2-1 start to the season. Against Div. II opponent Central Missouri State, Bennett logged 21 points and followed that with a 31-point performance against Concordia-River Forest. The 6-foot-6-inch forward scored 22 points in an overtime victory versus William Penn including a key three-pointer in the overtime period. For the three-game swing Bennett shot 28-of-45 for 62 percent from the field, 7-of-14 for 50 percent from behind the arc and 11-of-12 for 92 percent from the free-throw line. Bennett also added 5.3 rebounds and 2.3 steals.

Week #2 : Dec. 9

Kari Hannula
St. Norbert

Hannula, a senior forward from Hortonville, Wis., led the youthful Green Knights to a pair of big home victories this past week with a 55-52 win over last year’s CCIW runner-up Elmhurst and an 81-69 win over Carroll, their 17th straight MWC win. Hannula scored 25 points with 11 rebounds (the senior’s second double-double of the season) in the victory over Elmhurst. The forward then added 15 points and seven rebounds in the win over Carroll. On the week, Hannula made 14-of-22 field goals, including 10-of-11 on free throws.

Week #3 : Dec. 16

Tom Becker
Ripon

Becker, a sophomore point guard from Delavan, Wis. (Delavan-Darien HS), played a huge role in the Red Hawks defeating Beloit 66-57. The sophomore went 7 of 10 from the field, and four of four from the free throw line to go with eight steals, 19 points, and three rebounds.

Week #4 : Jan. 6

Scott Landsich
Ripon

Landisch, a junior forward from Wauwatosa, Wis., (East HS) led the Red Hawks to three wins last week, two coming over previously undefeated teams. Landisch scored 18 points and six rebounds as Ripon defeated then unbeaten Babson College at the Grand Canyon Classic. The 6'4" junior had 18 points and eight rebounds as Ripon handed Keene State their first loss of the season also at the Grand Canyon Classic. Landisch finished the week with 17 points and 13 rebounds as Ripon improved to 2-0 in MWC play with a win over Carroll.

Week #5 : Jan. 13

Marques Flowers
Beloit

Flowers, a senior guard/forward from Madison, Wis., (LaFollette HS) led the Bucs to two key conference road victories. Against Carroll Flowers scored 21 points, grabbed ten rebounds and blocked a key shot with a few seconds left the propelled his team to the win. Versus St. Norbert, Flowers scored a season-high 29 points as Beloit snapped St. Norbert's 11-game home MWC win streak. Flowers also grabbed six rebounds, had one assist and two steals. In the two games, Flowers made 19-of-34 shots, 3-of-8 three-pointers and 9-of-15 free-throws. Flowers is just 47 points shy of joining the Bucs' 1,000-point club.

Week #6 : Jan. 20

Marques Flowers
Beloit

Flowers, a senior guard from Madison, Wis., (LaFollette HS) netted 50 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, dished out nine assists, and tallied three steals as Beloit registered a weekend split. Flowers scored 37 points on 13-of-24 shotting from the field and 8-of-9 free throws against Knox. Flowers’ 37 points are the second most ever scored in The Flood Arena. Against Illinois C., Flowers then became the 16th Buccaneer man to score 1,000 career points as he netted 13 in a loss.

Julian Swartz
Carroll

Swartz, a sophomore forward from Waukesha, Wis., (South HS) helped the Pioneers to a 2-1 record during the week and propelled Carroll back into the conference race. The 6-7 forward scored 29 points and grabbed five rebounds in a non-conference loss at Concordia (WI). Swartz then had 18 points and six rebounds in a win over Lake Forest, followed by a 26-point, nine-rebound performance in a win over Monmouth. In three games, Swartz averaged 24.3 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.

Week #7 : Jan. 27

Steve Wood
Grinnell


Wood, a junior from Peoria, Ill., propelled the Pioneers to come-from-behind victories over the weekend. Wood logged 31 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists, while also going 15 of 20 from the free-throw line in the win over Carroll. Saturday’s performance came in the triple overtime win against Lawrence, as Wood forced the first overtime by hitting a three with a defender in his face as time ran out. During each of the final two overtimes, the 6’2” junior put together traditional three-point plays that either tied the game, or put Grinnell ahead, including a reverse lay-up and the ensuing free throw to put the Pioneers ahead, 150-149, with less than 10 seconds to go. Wood finished with 48 points, 10 rebounds, 9 assists, 6 steals and was 13 of 15 from the free-throw line. Over the last four games, in which Grinnell has gone 3-1, Wood is 47 of 54 from the line.

Week #8 : Feb. 3


Eric McDonald
Lake Forest

McDonald, a sophomore from Elk Grove, Ill., (Elk Grove HS), helped Lake Forest split a pair of MWC road games over the weekend. In a 71-69 loss at St. Norbert, McDonald scored 21 points and pulled down a game-high nine rebounds. The sophomore was 8-of-11 from the floor and 4-of-6 from the line. In the 88-85 victory at Beloit, McDonald led all players with 35 points and six boards, shooting 14-of-18 from the floor and 7-of-8 from the line. For the week, McDonald averaged 28.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game while shooting 75.9 percent from the field and 78.6 percent from the free throw line.

Week #9 : Feb. 10

Drew Petefish
Illinois C.

Petefish, a senior point guard from Ashland, Ill., (AC Central HS) hit the biggest shot of his career and the biggest shot of the season so far for Illinois C. when he nailed a three-pointer with one second left for a 70-69 win over league leader Lawrence. Petefish only tallied nine points in the win but added to his league-leading assist total with six more. The senior handed out 10 assists in a loss to Beloit and scored 17 points with four assists in the victory over Knox. Petefish also padded his league-high steal total with five during the three games.

Week #10 : Feb. 17

Josh Glocke
Ripon

Glocke, a senior guard from Berlin, Wis., (Berlin HS) posted 20 and 31 points in last week’s games. The senior was perfect from the free throw line netting all 12 of his attempts, and was 19 of 38 from the field. Averaging 37 minutes per game, Glocke also hauled in seven rebounds.

Week #11 : Feb. 24

Scott Landisch
Ripon

Landisch, a junior from Wauwatosa, Wis., (East HS) came up big in the must-win game against Carroll to enable the Red Hawks to qualify for the post-season tournament as the #4 seed. The junior scored 36 points, hitting 12-of-20 from the field, 5-of-7 from the 3-point arc, and 7-of-9 from the free throw line. Landisch went over 1000 points for his career and also hauled down eight rebounds in the victory.
