Hawsey, who will also serve as assistant track and field coach, replaces Greg Wallace. Wallace gave up the football post after 20 years to concentrate on his new duties as director of athletics and recreation.<p>
Hawsey comes from Colorado College,
where he has served as offensive coordinator,
offensive line coach, strength and conditioning coordinator and
supervisor of the school’s weight room and fitness center since 2003. Prior to that he was an assistant football coach at his alma mater,

Hawsey is optimistic about the upcoming football campaign since the Pioneers return many experienced players. “I had the opportunity to meet with a number of players and I enjoyed their attitude and character,” he said. “You mix those players in with a good recruiting class and I think we can win some games next season and eventually compete for the conference championship.”
Hawsey says he won’t hesitate to
consult Wallace on any issue. “It’s a great benefit for someone like me, as a
first-time head coach, to have someone like Greg Wallace on campus,” said
Hawsey. “He knows the ins and outs of
Hawsey and his wife, Sara, have two daughters, 4-year-old Marion and newborn Natalie, and a son, 3-year-old Hunter. <p>
