New faces on the 2003 Carroll College football staff
Many new faces will be gracing the Carroll
College sidelines during the 2003 football season. Only third-year head
coach Jeff Voris and linebacker coach Todd Rohrer return from the 2002
staff. Henny Hiemenz will take over as the Pioneer offensive coordinator,
while the defensive coordinator position will be manned by Kim Courtwright.
Mark Herdt (defensive backs) and Peter Loose (running backs), along
with graduate assistants Luke Cutkomp (defensive line) and Mike Fitzgerald
(wide receivers), fill out the 2003 coaching staff.
Hiemenz joins the Carroll staff after stints
at Ithaca College, Illinois Wesleyan University, and Utica College from
1999-2002. Courtwright brings a ton of experience to the Pioneer defense,
having served in the same capacity at several institutions, most recently
at MacMurray College. Herdt has spent the last two years as the director
of youth football in Oconomowoc. Prior to that, he served as an assistant
coach at Schaumburg High School and Oconomowoc High School, most recently
working as the varsity defensive backs and special teams coach for the
2000 Oconomowoc squad.
Loose brings experience and knowledge of
the local football scene to Carroll. He has been an offensive assistant
coach at both Waukesha South High School and Waukesha West High School.
Cutkomp spent three seasons as a student assistant coach at Wartburg
College before coming to Carroll, while Fitzgerald comes to the Pioneers
after a stellar playing career at Midwest Conference rival Lake Forest
College. Fitzgerald, a second-team all-MWC performer, was a key member
of the Forester's 2002 league championship team.
