Jason Kosanke named head baseball coach at Carroll College
(Waukesha, Wis.) – Jason Kosanke has been named head baseball coach at Carroll College, athletic director Kris Jacobsen announced. Kosanke replaces Steve Dannhoff, who has taken on full time responsibilities within the college’s physical education department.
“We were very impressed with Jason’s passion and knowledge of the game. He is very well respected and highly regarded in the baseball community,” said Jacobsen. “We are very excited to have Jason join our staff. He is committed to building all aspects of the baseball program and being a strong role model for student-athletes.”
Kosanke comes to Carroll after a successful stint as the head baseball coach at Waukesha South High School. He led the Blackshirts from 2001 to 2006, compiling a record of 117 wins and 104 losses. He earned Wisconsin State Coach of the Year honors in 2004 and was selected to coach the 2005 East All-Star team for the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association All-Star Classic.
During his tenure, Kosanke’s Waukesha South teams were ranked among the top 10 teams in Wisconsin in 2001, 2002, 2004 and 2005. He coached teams to a conference championship, three regional championships, a sectional championship and a third-place state tournament finish.
“I’m very excited about the opportunity at Carroll,” said Kosanke. “Carroll is a strong academic institution and is located in a talent-rich baseball area. I know most of the coaches in the area and which programs are the best to recruit from. We won’t shy away from recruiting in the Fox Valley or northern Illinois areas, but we will definitely try to have a local flavor on our team.”
Kosanke graduated form Evangel University in Springfield, Mo., where he was a two-time all-conference selection and member of the school’s first conference championship team in 1996. He played five years of semi-professional baseball in the Land O’ Lakes Baseball League.
