a senior pitcher from Ottawa, Ill./Marquette turned in a superb pitching
performance in a 5-0 shutout of Grinnell on Sunday. Hellman went the distance,
allowing just two hits over nine innings, as just four Grinnell hitters
reached base. He struck out nine and walked one to improve his record
to 3-0 and lower his ERA to 0.43. He has allowed just one earned run in
21 innings. Hellman also stroked a two-run single in the fourth inning. |

senior
pitcher

Ottawa,
Ill.
(Marquette
HS),
helped
Monmouth
to
a
split
of
a
doubleheader
with
Knox.
The
senior
went
1-for-4
in
the
opener
with
3
runs
batted
in,
all
courtesy
of
a
three-run
triple
that
tied
the
game
in
the
bottom
of
the
seventh.
In
the
second
game,
Hellman
pitched
a
complete
game,
allowing
four
runs
on
eight
hits
in
the
victory.
Hellman
also
went
3-for-5
with
one
run
batted
in.
For
the
two
games,
the
senior
went
4-for-9
(.444)
with
four
runs
batted
in,
also
improving
his
pitching
record
to
5-0
on
the
season.

with

and

in.
In
the
nightcap,
Kouba
went
3-for-5
with
one
run
scored.
For
the
two
games,
Kouba
was
5-for-7
with
two
doubles,
three
runs
batted
in,
a

slugging
percentage,
a
.778
on-base
percentage,
and
handled
seven
chances
in
the
field
without
an

and

one.
The
senior

his

run
average
to

and
his
conference
earned
run
average
finished
at
a
perfect.
