Week 1: March 20, 2006

Josh Leinberger - Illinois College - Junior - Third Base - Chandlerville, Ill./A.C. Central
Leinberger opened the season on a tear at the plate, as the junior third baseman hit .500 (19-38) during the Blueboys 11-game spring schedule in Fort Myers, Fla. Leinberger’s totals included 10 runs, two home runs, a double, one triple and 10 RBI. His performance helped Illinois College get off to a 7-4 start and the best mark in the MWC South thus far this season.

Dan Dunn - Monmouth College - Senior - RHP - Mapleton, Ill./Illini Bluffs
Dunn improved his record to 3-1 on the year with a dominant performance during a 3-0 victory over Wisconsin Lutheran on Sunday. Dunn struck out the side in each of the first two innings en route to a one-hit, 12 K performance over six innings. The lone hit the senior righty allowed came on a roller in the hole to short, as Dunn dropped his ERA to 2.82 in four appearances this season. He has tallied 27 strikeouts in 22.1 innings.
 
Week 2: March 27, 2006

Andrew Wong - Lawrence University - Senior - Shortstop - Wauwatosa, Wis./East
Wong raked opposing pitching last week, as the Vikings opened the season with a 6-6 mark on the team’s spring trip to Florida. The senior shortstop hit .378 driving in 21 runs in 12 contests. His totals included four home runs, two triples and a pair of doubles. Wong also stole four bases to go along with his .855 slugging percentage. In Lawrence’s 18-8 win over Kalamazoo on March 20, Wong highlighted a career day by swatting a grad slam, three-run homer and two-run triple en route to a single-game school-record nine RBI.

Tim Pauley - Knox College - Senior - RHP - Pearl City, Ill./Pearl City
Pauley improved to 3-0 on the season with a complete-game victory Saturday as Knox edged Cornell 2-1 to end the Rams six-game winning streak. Cornell’s lone run was unearned, as the senior righty scattered three hits and struck out four during the seven-inning contest.

 
Week 3: April 3, 2006

Ryan Priola - Monmouth College - Sophomore - Shortstop - St. Charles, Ill./East
Priola drove home multiple runs with each of his three hits last week, helping the Fighting Scots pick up a trio of victories, including a 2-0 start in conference play. Priola paced Monmouth to an 11-2 non-conference victory over Eureka on Wednesday, as he belted two- and three-run home runs in the contest. The sophomore shortstop gave the Scots the doubleheader sweep over Grinnell in their first MWC series of the season, as his two-run single in the eighth inning of Saturday’s nightcap broke a 1-1 tie and gave Monmouth the lead for good. Priola currently ranks second in the MWC with 19 RBI and is hitting .352 this season.

Dan Dunn - Monmouth College - Senior - RHP - Mapleton, Ill./Illini Bluffs
Dunn is the MWC Pitcher of the Week for the second time his season after opening up conference play for the Scots by tossing a complete-game extra-inning no-hitter in a 2-1 victory over Grinnell. The right-handed senior struck out nine and walked one in the eight-inning contest after hitting the first batter of the game with a pitch. A pair of errors in the fourth inning allowed Grinnell to tally its only run in the contest, which was unearned. The performance gave Dunn his fourth win of the season and lowered his ERA to 2.72 this season.

 
Week 4: April 10, 2006

Tyler Haddock - Ripon College - Senior - Third Base/RHP - Winneconne, Wis./Winneconne
Haddock hit .481 (13-27) with 12 RBI and 12 runs scored last week, as Red Hawks ran their winning streak to 11 games overall and improved to 4-0 in MWC play after sweeping a pair of doubleheaders from Lawrence. The senior third basemen, who also recorded a win and a save in three mound appearances last week, hit two home runs, a triple and five doubles. Haddock currently ranks in the Top 5 in the conference in slugging percentage (.733), RBI (21), doubles (8) and total bases (44).

Dan Dunn - Monmouth College - Senior - RHP - Mapleton, Ill./Illini Bluffs
Dunn got the Fighting Scots off on the right foot in the opener of a home doubleheader against Illinois College on Saturday. The senior righty pitched the first 6.1 innings, departing with a 3-1 lead in the top of the final inning of Monmouth’s 3-2 win. His line for the day included five hits, two earned runs, three walks and five strikeouts as he picked up his second victory in as many conference starts. Dunn is MWC leader in wins (5), strikeouts (46), innings (43.1) and opposing batting average (.224) this season.

 
Week 5: April 17, 2006

Derek Schrader - Illinois College - Junior - Outfielder - Lincoln, Ill./Lincoln
Schrader came through with a career line to help the Blueboys earn a split against MWC South leader Monmouth on Saturday. Schrader was 4-for-4 with three runs and seven RBI after blasting a grand slam home run to go along with a pair of doubles. Schrader’s homer helped IC rally from a 7-1 deficit to an eventual 11-9 victory. The junior outfielder also homered in the first Monmouth contest, a 5-4 extra inning loss. Schrader finished the week with a .533 batting average (8-15), seven runs and eight RBI.

Greg Basthemer - Ripon College - Junior - RHP - Brookfield, Wis./Central
Basthemer appeared in a trio of conference contests against Beloit last week, earning a win and a save to help the Red Hawks sweep the four-game set. Basthemer earned the victory in the second game of Tuesday’s doubleheader, as he allowed one run over the course the final three innings during Ripon’s 4-3 victory. The junior righty came in to face the final batter of the game against the Bucs in game one on Saturday, recording a strikeout en route to a 6-3 victory and his first save of the season. Basthemer, who struck out five in 5.1 innings of work on the week, tossed two innings in Saturday’s nightcap.

 
Week 6: April 24, 2006

Kyle Thomas - St. Norbert College - Junior - First Base - Oshkosh, Wis./West
Thomas paced the Green Knights at the plate last week with a .417 batting average as St. Norbert posted a 5-2 record. Thomas was 10-for-24 with three runs scored, three doubles, one home run and eight RBI. The junior first basemen’s three-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning of Saturday’s 3-2 triumph over Beloit lifted St. Norbert to its MWC-record 19th straight conference victory. Thomas also went 4-for-5 with four RBI and a pair of doubles in a 12-10 win over Lakeland on Wednesday. Thomas’ big bat has been one of keys to St. Norbert winning 12 of its last 14 games.

Leo Martin - Grinnell College - Senior - LHP/OF - Brentwood, Calif./Liberty
Martin was almost as good at the plate as he was on the mound last week, as the senior lefty helped the Pioneers to a 4-2 mark. Martin struck out 10 and allowed an unearned run en route to a complete-game three-hitter in a 4-1 win over Luther on Sunday. Martin returned in the nightcap, striking out the side in the seventh inning to earn the save and give Grinnell the 11-10 victory. Earlier in the week, Martin combined to strike out four hitters in 2.2 innings of work against Illinois College and Central, earning saves in both contests. Seeing time in the outfield and as a designated hitter, Martin compiled a .476 batting average with a home run, four RBI, five runs and a pair of stolen bases to go along with his 0.00 ERA.

 
Week 7: May 1, 2006

Andy Monigal - Ripon College - Senior - Outfield - New Berlin, Wis./West
Monigal was 6-for-9 at the plate in a doubleheader sweep over St. Norbert on Saturday and registered eight total hits last week. Monigal drove in two runs and scored a pair of runs as the Red Hawks edged the Green Knights 4-2 and 5-2 to clinch a berth in the 2006 MWC Championship tourney. The win in game one also ended St. Norbert’s MWC-record 21-game conference winning streak. Monigal added a pair of hits and scored a run as Ripon dropped a pair of games (4-1, 11-6) to regional power UW-Stevens Point earlier in the week.

Nick Collins - Ripon College - Senior - RHP - Oconomowoc Wis./Oconomowoc
Collins pitched the nightcap of the Red Hawks two-game sweep against St. Norbert on Saturday, going the distance in the nine-inning contest to earn the win and help Ripon clinch a berth in the MWC Championship tournament. Collins allowed five hits, two earned runs, three walks and struck out two as Red Hawks edged the Green Knights 5-2. Collins, who did not allow a run in the final eight innings of the game against St. Norbert, improved to 4-0 on the season with the effort.

 
Week 8: May 8, 2006

Eric Schwendimann - Ripon College - Senior - Catcher - Hartford, Wis./Union
Schwendimann’s offensive production keyed Ripon’s four-game sweep of Carroll last week. The senior catcher was 9-15 at the plate with six runs scored and seven RBI. Schwendimann’s effort pushed him into a tie for the team’s top batting average (.376) and helped the Red Hawks become the 11th team in league history to register a perfect MWC record and the first to finish with a 16-0 mark.
Brad Hauser - Lawrence University - Junior - Outfielder - Appleton, Wis./East
Hauser batted a sizzling .516 in eight games last week, as Lawrence closed the season by winning two of its last three games. The junior outfielder went 16-for-31 with four doubles, two homers, 10 RBI and 11 runs scored. Hauser, who handled all 23 chances in the outfield flawlessly, compiled an .839 slugging percentage, a .600 on-base percentage and stole two bases. Hauser registered a 3-for-4 performance in a win over Beloit and also went 4-for-5 with four runs and two RBI in a loss to UW-Oshkosh. Hauser drove in at least two runs in four of the eight games the Vikings played this week.
